Milwaukee (Bush) at San Diego (Richard) - Friday
I’ll look for Milwaukee’s Dave Bush to bounce back after a brutal performance on Sunday against the Cubs. Bush entered that contest with a 2.41 ERA but was shelled for seven earned runs in 3.2 innings. On Friday, he enters a favorable situation on the road in Petco Park. Milwaukee doesn’t get to face a lot of lefty starters in the NL Central but when given the opportunity, this lineup is built for success. Last year, the Brewers ranked third in baseball in on-base percentage (.359) and OPS (.807) against southpaws. This season, the splits are nearly the same (.358/.812). San Diego starter Clayton Richard is one of many fringe Major League starters that have had success in pitcher friendly Petco Park. Last season, Richard allowed righties to hit .279/.359/.784 and of course will get nearly an entire lineup of just that on Friday against Milwaukee. The Padres are the big surprise this season with an 11-8 start but the lineup still features a lot of holes. I consider the matchup of Bush vs. Richard to be fairly even but see value in playing Milwaukee’s lineup against a left-handed starter.
Recommendation: #961 Milwaukee
