Tampa Bay (Sonnanstine) at Seattle (Vargas) -125 O/U 7.5
Recommendation: Under
Situation suggests a look toward the under between these lower echelon AL offenses. One strong factor tonight is the presence of Jim Wolf behind the plate. Currently on a 1-4 O/U run, games called by Wolf have gone that route 56.5 percent of the time the last 4+ years. It’s interesting to note that during his recent five-game span, team batting averages have exceeded .255 in just two games and only one totaled more than six runs. Wolf’s under tendencies combined with this pitcher friendly park look to be a nice formula for a low scoring game. Just three weeks ago, the Rays were shutout by Baltimore fringe starter Brad Bergesen with Wolf behind the plate. Mariners lefty Jason Vargas has held this current Tampa roster to a .204 BA and Andy Sonnastine has posted some terrific numbers in his four Safeco appearances (6.7-1 K:BB ratio/.221 BAA/.256 OBP/.338 SLG%). Getting the key number of 7.5 put us on tonight’s under.
