Los Angeles (Chacin) at Cleveland (Kluber) O/U 8
Recommendation: Cleveland -1.5 -115
The Cleveland Indians host the Los Angeles Angels tonight for the opening game of a four-game series. Tonight’s game has an obvious mismatch with Cory Kluber squaring off against the visiting Angels starter Jhoulys Chacin. The 28-year-old Chacin has a 5.22 ERA since joining the Angels, which includes 10 starts and eight relief appearances. Chacin has not started a game since July 1 when he allowed five earned runs and 12 hits in 4.2 innings. After pitching for years in Colorado, Chacin was able to finally escape Coors Field with brief stints with the Diamondbacks and Braves. Now, he’s back in a tough situation of having to navigate the American League with fringe stuff. On the flipside, Kluber has been solid of late. He now has five straight starts of seven innings or more in which he has allowed three or fewer runs. In each start he recorded seven strikeouts and also walked three or fewer. The Angels have been on the highway for the last week and haven't fared well with no wins in five tries and only three runs of offense over their last three contests. And the Indians have delivered at home of late in Kluber’s starts with wins by scores of 8-0, 10-2, 6-0, and 7-0. Mismatch across the board has us laying the -1.5 with the home side.
