tonight against Seattle. It is an opponent that Feliz has had a little bit of success against. In 17 appearances, tallying 16 innings, the Mariners have yet to record a hit against the Rangers right hander. Yep, in 48 at-bats, Seattle is hitless (current roster 0-for-22) and has only reached base five times. Perhaps a good sign that Feliz spent much of the winter rediscovering his change-up – a pitch he'll need in order to survive a full season as a starter.
"At the end of spring, it was right where it should have been," manager Ron Washington said. "It's a very good change-up. We gave him time over the winter to prepare and tinker with the grip, so he'd be ready to go. He showed a lot of confidence in it and his other secondary pitches during spring training."
Said Feliz: "I focused on it all winter. And then I got good results in spring training with it. I'm really happy with it."
