NY Yankees (Hughes) +120 at LA Angels (Weaver) O/U 7.5
Recommendation: New York
The Yankees have officially woken out of their slumber with five-straight wins and outscoring the opposition 28-10 in the process. They’ll send right-hander Phil Hughes to the hill Monday night. Hughes has pitched better than his 4.94 ERA would indicate. His velocity is much better than last season as his overall stuff is as well. His 46-13 strikeout-to-walk ratio is certainly proof of better times moving forward this season. It’s clear his profile simply doesn’t fit Yankee Stadium, while the pressure for Hughes is softer on the highway as well. Over the last three-plus years Hughes has allowed 39 home runs in Yankee Stadium, while just 14 on the road. Meanwhile, Jered Weaver continues to deal the goods for the Halos. On the season he boasts a sweet 2.61 ERA. However, he hasn’t been quite that sharp in watching him. In addition, he’s faced more than his share of weaker offensive clubs. The Yankees bats are scorching from the left-side which should present some issues for Weaver. This is one sweet price tag for the Yankees that we can’t pass up.
