NBA Gambling: Denver Nuggets continue to regress defensively

01.06.2016     09:03 AM     Printer Friendly

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Poor Michael Malone. He leaves one dumpster fire and is immediately thrown into another. The Denver Nuggets have lost nine of their last 10 to drop to 12-23 overall (15-18-2 ATS). Not surprising, Malone is none too pleased with his team's defensive effort. The schedule has been brutal with five of their last seven on the road including games against Golden State, Oklahoma City, San Antonio, and Cleveland. Tonight perhaps offers a better opportunity as Minnesota ranks 25th in the league in offensive efficiency.

“We had no energy, no effort. Very flat,” a frustrated Malone said after the game. “As a coach, I can’t coach effort. That’s one thing I can’t do. We didn’t defend. We’re just a bad team right now.”

“There are too many breakdowns in our defense. I have to do a better job of game planning and helping our guys out because what we’re doing right now isn’t working. They’ve beaten us handily two times now without their best player.”
