NFL Gambling Update: Denver says Siemian likely to start vs. San Diego

10.11.2016     09:09 AM     Printer Friendly

UPDATE

The Denver Broncos claim that quarterback Trevor Siemian will start Thursday's game against San Diego. Denver opened -3 but has since been bet up to -3 (-125)/-3.5.

“He’s very close,” Kubiak said Sunday of Siemian. “He did everything he could for us all week long, but we had to make a decision that at the end of the week, when it’s time to go, he tried to get there. He worked extremely hard to get there. We just didn’t think he was ready.”

NFL Gambling Alert: Denver Broncos may start Lynch over Siemian vs. Atlanta

Despite early week claims that Trevor Siemian would start, there are rumblings that it will be rookie Paxton Lynch instead. Lynch spelled Siemian in last week's win over Tampa and looked good in the process with 14-of-24 completions, 170 yards, and a touchdown. Denver has dropped from a -6 home favorite vs. Atlanta to -4.5 at most offshore sportsbooks.

“I think Gary has made it very clear. They’re preparing as if Trevor Siemian will play. Trevor Siemian wants to play. They want him to play,” Schefter said. “But when you look at it I think the signs point to Paxton Lynch starting just right now.”

“He took some 7-on-7, some of that [skeleton] stuff that we do,” Kubiak said of Siemian’s practice session on Thursday. “He did all of the individual stuff and pre-practice. He threw. It was a step forward. We’ll see how sore he is, see how he’s feeling as we move to tomorrow. Hopefully he does a little more.”
