NY Islanders -130 at Winnipeg O/U 5.5
Recommendation: New York
My clients and I cashed a winner fading the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night and there are still plenty of opportunities moving forward including tonight as they host the surging NY Islanders. Winnipeg is 7-15 in its last 22 games since early January including a 2-6 current run. This extended stretch of losing has basically taken them from the fringe of contending for a playoff spot in the Western Conference to completely out of the mix. They traded captain Andrew Ladd to Chicago before the deadline and their top center and second leading scorer Bryan Little is out for the rest of the season with a compression fracture vertebrae injury. More issues for a Winnipeg team not loaded with quality depth. They have struggled defensively and in goal as Mike Hutchinson (tonight’s starter) has been mediocre at best this season and Ondrej Pavelec has not regained any sort of good form since returning from injury. Winnipeg has very little home ice edge these days nor confidence winning in their own building with a dismal 1-8 record in their last nine home games. The Islanders have had a very strong road trip to this point (4-1) and have performed well against Winnipeg winning each of the last two meetings. New York has gotten solid offensive contributions all season from captain John Tavares, Brock Nelson and Kyle Okposo among others but even some of the depth forwards are starting to chip in offensively namely center Casey Cizikas who enters tonight on a five-game point streak (two goals, three assists). He's recorded three goals and six assists in his last nine contests. The price falls in the moderate range of -130 with the Isles tonight but it’s worth getting involved.
