Sportsbooks reassure Olympic Committee betting patterns will be monitored

03.20.2012     01:54 PM     Printer Friendly

The International Olympic Committee has been in a tizzy about the potential for fixed outcomes in the upcoming London Olympics. British bookmaker Ladbrokes went so far as to say that a bet as small as 50 pounds (about $80 USD) will receive a second look. Pinnacle is currently taking $200 limits on various Olympic events.

"If I see a bet of more than 50 pounds ($79.5) I'll be looking at who it is, because I'm not expecting 50 pounds on weightlifting or badminton," said Mike O'Kane, Business Director at British bookmaker Ladbrokes which chaired the meeting.
