Arizona Diamondbacks
2015 W-L:
  79-83
2015 O/U:  80-74-8
2015 Profits:  +1.5 units
2016 O/U Wins (Westgate):  81.5
2016 NL West Odds (Westgate):  7/1
Projected Starting Rotation:  Zack Greinke, Shelby Miller, Patrick Corbin, Rubby De La Rosa, Robbie Ray
Key Departures:  Jeremy Hellickson,  Ender Inciarte
Key Additions: Zack Greinke, Shelby Miller, Jean Segura, Tyler Clippard

Handicapper’s Take: “Newly acquired Zack Greinke is coming off arguably his best season (1.66 ERA) though did throw a career-high 236 innings including two starts in the playoffs. At 32 years old and off of two seasons of nearly 450 innings, he moves over to more hitter friendly Chase Field and goes from throwing to Yasmani Grandal (one of MLB's best pitch framers ) to Welington Castillo (one of the worst ). That said, Greinke, Shelby Miller and a healthy Patrick Corbin offer one of the better 1-2-3 punches in the National League. And projected fourth and fifth starters Rubby de la Rosa and Robbie Ray are young and viable lower rotation arms.

The offense, which scored the second-most runs in the National League, is built around Paul Goldschmidt and AJ Pollock who combined for +14 WAR last season. And David Peralta was a pleasant surprise with 17 home runs. There are some weak sticks beyond that but the offense grades out as above NL-average. And another thing to like is defensively, particularly in the infield, the Diamondbacks look solid.

Schedule wise, the D-Backs must play 13 games against the AL East as well as four games against AL West contender Houston. And fellow division mates San Francisco and Los Angeles are projected to win 90 and 87 games respectively.

Like a lot of teams, there isn't a lot of depth on this club. A few key injuries and the fall off could be dramatic. It's easy to get enamored following all of the offseason additions but the reality is they appear to be properly priced as an 81-83 win ball club."

The MLB season is right around the corner so now is the time to lock in a Sportsmemo full season package! Get every regular season selection and full playoff coverage for only $999. That comes out to about $150 per month! Another option is our April package that has been discounted to $249.
