Donald Driver Receiving Yards O/U 44.5
Recommendation: Over
There are various numbers available on this play so shop around for the best line. 5Dimes and Pinnacle are two offshore shops currently offering 44.5ov with little to no juice. While there’s a lot of hype directed toward Green Bay’s top wide receiver Greg Jennings and a stampede of prop betting support for their fourth wideout Jordy Nelson, the most experienced and dependable pass catcher is flying under the radar.
Three fundamental reasons lead me to back Driver in this particular matchup...
First is the pressure defense of Pittsburgh which figures to either shorten Aaron Rodgers’ time to throw or place him in scramble situations. Driver excels in each of those areas as he’s the team’s top short to intermediate route runner and he’s extremely savvy at finding openings when the QB is under pressure.
Second, Driver is still fast enough to get behind the secondary and make long yardage plays. Along with that, it must be noted that Driver remains dangerous as a yards-after-catch receiver.
Third, the man to man matchups which Driver will see are ones that he can exploit. He is a physical receiver who will not be intimidated by bully-style corner Ike Taylor. Driver has a knack for separating from bump-and-run coverage and at that point, his route running skills give him a solid advantage over Taylor. Pittsburgh’s other corner Bryant McFadden is the speed cover guy who Driver can use his physicality and pass pattern prowess against.
In a contest where Green Bay figures to be throwing, play Driver to go OVER 44.5 yards.
