Texas Tech offensive coordinator Neal Brown talks turkey

08.06.2010     07:01 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Really good interview with Texas Tech offensive coordinator Neal Brown who head coach Tommy Tuberville hired from Troy. Again, it doesn't look as if the Red Raiders plan on changing much of the offense from the Mike Leach days.

The way we keep our stats in house is different than what goes out to the media. Our idea of balance isn’t necessarily the traditional idea. We want to be balanced as far as touches to our guys who are playmakers and stuff like that.

But we’ve thrown the ball effectively, and that’s why Coach Tuberville brought us here: to keep the offense intact, to be able to run the ball a little bit more efficiently and effectively than they have. But Tech fans want a passing offense, and more than anything they want a winning offense. I think if you look at what we accomplished at Troy, I think the results show that.

You ran a lot of no-huddle at Troy, similar to what Mike Leach did at Tech last year. Will we see that again from your offense this season?

Yeah, we’ll be all no-huddle this year.
