D-Rose doubtful for Celtics game on Friday night with a bad toe. I think coach Thib's is awesome for the Bulls, BUT he was really riding some guys for heavy minutes in the early going. Including his MVP!

Bulls defense didn't miss a beat without DRose on the floor last night. Admittedly, they faced a bottom tier offensive foe in Washington, but any time you hold an opposing team to 64 points -- just 27 of them coming in the second half -- on 31% shooting, you're clearly doing something right.
Boston had been off since Friday, prepping for Dallas. They came up short in that game, not a positive sign. Here are a couple of pertinent quotes, talking about how the Celtics are struggling with their toughness and 'swagger' right now, looking like an old, old team.
Doc Rivers: "We're just not there yet as a team. I think we've got a tough group of guys; we just haven't all bought in yet."
Paul Pierce: "We don't have a big body like Perkins or a guy like Big Baby. But it doesn't hvae to come in a size package. It has to be 'How bad do you want it?' I mean, the most physical guys in boxing aren't the biggest guys...."

Bulls once again a pretty dominating basketball team last night... I can't say enough about how well this team is playing, rarely taking a possession off, while while playing together so well... HOWEVER, once again will these guys have anything left in the tank in the playoffs??? Deng 43 minutes, Rose and Noah 39 playing their 4th game in 5 nights...

4th game in 5 days once again for the Bulls!! Grizzlies were laying in the weeds waiting for revenge yesterday after 104-64 loss earlier this year... D-Rose is out and money coming in for the Bulls, hmm...

As I said earlier in the season, coach Thibs was riding his guys way too hard... Losers of two in a row and out of gas... Fortunately, Rose should be somewhat fresh for the playoffs...
Tom Thibodeau steamed after Bulls smacked in back-to-backs

The mission from the beginning of the season is to be healthy and playing your best basketball heading into the playoffs.
The Bulls are so far from accomplishing both goals that not even the long-awaited return of Rip Hamilton was enough to prevent them from losing back-to-back games for the first time in 86 games.
The Bulls are not only battered but looked gassed for the second consecutive game. This team needs an infusion of energy, which made Hamilton’s return for only his 17th game seem opportune, considering Derrick Rose remains out with a groin injury and the Bulls were coming off the embarrassing loss Sunday against the Thunder.
Hamilton played mostly like his old self in limited minutes, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a second-half collapse that resulted in a 99-93 loss Monday against the Rockets at the United Center.
Coach Tom Thibodeau called it the worst consecutive performances since he arrived before last season.
“I felt like we let go of the rope,” Thibodeau said. “Usually, we’re a team that has shown great fight, great resolve. We get down; we fight back. I don’t feel we ever let go of the rope. The last two games, we let go of the rope.”
“I don’t think we let go of the rope, but when you lose two in a row, questions creep in,” Carlos Boozer said.

Bulls Confidential Gives Their Slant On The Remainder Of The Bulls Season
Chicago Bulls Confidential
How long will it take to build chemistry?
By DougThonus, today at 6:26 am
Richard Hamilton finally returned from injury against the Rockets, playing with a rather bulky looking shoulder pad on his right arm. He didn't play particularly well. He'll need time to shake off the rust, but more importantly, the Bulls will need time to learn to play with Rip too.
The Chicago Bulls haven't had much health this year. They've had to juggle the roster around and have gone to the third string PG for significant minutes. The Bulls have mostly played 13 deep this season with even their 11-13 men playing fairly significant roles for the team.
As they approach the playoffs, roles are going to change as are the rotations on the court at any given time. Guys who were comfortable playing big minutes with each other will need to get comfortable playing with other guys. Guys who played a big role will go back to waving towels. Shots will shift from some players to others, and the offensive and defensive balance will be altered.
Obviously we all like Derrick Rose shooting more than John Lucas and C.J. Watson. We like him taking over rather than watching Luol Deng try to create off the dribble in a key situation. The offense will be vastly improved with Rose's return. There's no doubt that the Bulls desperately need him to win a title.
Hamilton is another story. He's not necessarily conclusively better than Brewer or Korver. He probably is, but he doesn't have the chemistry with his teammates that those guys have. He's a more versatile scorer and creator, but he's less efficient than both of the other guys and while he's a solid fundamental defender, he's no Ronnie Brewer on that side of the ball.
Assuming his body holds up, he'll take more shots per minute than the guys he's replacing at lower efficiency, but he'll also loosen up the defense with his movement and create more quality looks with his passing. Rip Hamilton can do a lot to help this team, but it won't be automatic. It will take some time for him to get used to playing and his teammates to get used to playing with him.
Unfortunately, the Bulls don't have much time, and the balance will be upset again when Rose comes back and the pecking order changes once more. Chicago still holds a tenuous grip on the #1 seed in the east, but how far they can go will depend how quickly they can build that automatic trust. How quickly can they reshuffle the deck and come up with four aces?
Hopefully Derrick can return soon, because when he does, it's still going to take some time for Chicago to get on the same page and play their best ball. A healthy Bulls team can win a title this year, but only if they're in peak form and on the same page. They still have a chance to get to that point, but the window is shrinking.

And D-Rose downgraded to doubtful with a bad ankle for tonight's rematch against the Knicks.

Ahh, yup, here we go again... No word yet on the severity of the D-Rose knee injury today. However, once again, as good as Thibs is as a motivator and X and O coach, he continues to be clueless when to rest his players!

ESPN reporting it's a torn ACL and Rose will be done for the year. Absolutely sickening to see someone go out like that at any juncture of the game, but it makes it worse when there was no reason for him to be in there.
