It's being reported that Syracuse C Fab Melo has been ruled ineligible for the NCAA Tournament.

Syracuse sophomore Fab Melo will not play in the NCAA tournament due to an eligibility issue, the school announced Tuesday afternoon. Melo did not travel with the team to Pittsburgh.

Contrary to what Digger Phelps would have you believe this is not "disastrous". Good defender but has a tendency to take the worst shots imaginable on offense. More minutes for Waiters/Southerland and a smaller quicker lineup not necessarily a bad thing for the Orange.

Have to agree Marty...my contention the past month has been that in half court sets Syracuse is very average but when they get out on the break they're as good as any. Without Melo to slow them down maybe their tempo picks up now. The concern is that defensively they don't rebound well out of the zone with Melo and now they have zero interior presence to scare opponents from passing inside the 2-3 and going into the paint.
