One of those deals where the value on Billingsley has eroded but he appears to be in great form. I took a small piece tonight and will continue to do so until he cools off.

I know it’s not exactly a revelation or anything, but I went with the under here, and I still like it down at 7. The skeptics are going to say that Billingsley has feasted on the Padres and Pirates, which is true, but he’s been going through some mechanical adjustments in the spring, and I think a lot of the questionable numbers down in Glendale were more of a result of him experimenting. I think he’s simplified things for himself, and he looks like a guy who is trusting his stuff, which is still very good.
Gallardo found some magic ion his last start, and his location was pretty crisp down in the strike zone. He’s another guy who has worked in some extra bullpen sessions to work on minor tweaks, and as long as he stays aggressive, he can pitch ahead and work in more of his secondary stuff. To me, Billingsley and Gallardo are in very similar boats right now, as far as needing to trust their stuff and wanting to pitch aggressive. And it wouldn’t hurt for both of them to start using their defenses, as both guys can run up high pitch counts, as they like to generate a lot of strikeouts and get into a lot of 2- and 3-ball counts.
I’m on record as saying that I like the Dodgers lineup this year more than last, but the bottom of the order is still very questionable, and even if Gordon is still getting on ahead of Kemp and Ethier, they still seem to want to play more small ball. The Brewers still have a sub-.300 OBP as a team, so as long as Billingsley stays away from the free passes, I think he can be a little bit more choosy. Both bullpens should be pretty well rested after the off day last night.
