Padres right-hander Andrew Cashner makes his 2012 starting debut after 27 games in relief. He has one other start in his career.

Upper 90's fastball with 29 K's in 26 innings of relief this season. He's expected to throw just 3 innings against the Brewers June 9 and then go to the minors to build his workload over the next month.

Red Sox right-hander Daisuke Matsuzaka makes his long-awaited 2012 debut. He posted a 5.30 ERA in 7 starts in 2011, and is a year removed from Tommy John surgery.

Matsuzaka made six minor league rehabilitation starts, going 0-3 with a 3.65 earned run average. He totaled 37 innings and gave up 31 hits with nine walks and 30 strikeouts

Keuchel, a seventh-round pick in 2009 out of the University of Arkansas, is hardly a hard thrower and relies on command and movement to be successful. He has a 4.26 ERA in 13 starts for Oklahoma City with exactly half his earned runs coming in back-to-back starts at Reno and Colorado Springs May 19 and 24.

A groundball specialist, he gets a lot of contact with just 46 strikeouts and 15 walks in 80 1/3.

Thornburg went 8-1 with a 3.00 ERA at Double-A Huntsville.

Note too that Blue Jays starter Jesse Chavez has pitched in 144 MLB games (157 innings); all in relief. He makes his first MLB start against the Brewers and Thornburg.

23-yr old right-hander Chris Archer makes his MLB debut for the Rays June 20 at Washington. He was part of the Matt Garza trade a few years ago.

Archer has been a streaky pitcher in the past couple seasons. Like many young arms, he has tremendous stuff, but at times doesn’t always know where it is going. In 14 games this year, he has 45 walks in 76 innings pitched to go along with a 4-8 record and a 4.81 ERA

In his last 6 starts, he is 3-2 with a 2.48 ERA. For his career, he is averaging 9 strikeouts per 9 innings pitched.

Jacob Turner, is set to make his 2012 debut for the Tigers on June 21 against his hometown St. Louis Cardinals.

A former first round pick, Turner was a favorite to make the Opening Day roster, but missed the beginning of the season with a "dead-arm period."

After being drafted out of high school, the big (6-5, 210) righty moved quickly through the minors and earned a spot start for the Tigers last July, then two more in September (0-1, 8.53 in 12 1/3 innings).

This season, the 21-year-old Turner has split time between Class A Lakeland (1-2, 1.66 over four starts) and Class AAA Toledo (2-1, 3.43 in seven starts). His peripheral numbers have been less than inspiring. His K ratio in AAA sits at just 5.8/9, while his walk rate is at 4/9.

web site issues yesterday and couldn't get Arizona pitcher Trevor Bauer's MLB debut info posted.

His fastball checked in low to mid 90's as he pitched 4 innings, 74 pitches & received no decision in D'backs 3-2 road win. Bauer allowed 2 runs on 5 hits with 3/3 K's/BB.

He's had a re-occurring groin injury that has been hampering him in the minors.

Trevor Bauer strained his groin in his major league debut and had to leave after pitching the first four innings.

''I had my good stuff for the first two innings,'' Bauer said. ''I was locating the ball well, and my breaking ball had a good bite to it, but when the third inning came along, my control went everywhere. It was like a tale of two pitchers.''

Adam Warren makes MLB debut for NY Yankees today.

The 24-year-old right-hander went 5-5 with a 3.86 ERA in 15 starts with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Warren will not overpower hitters with a fastball that rarely strays out of the mid-90s, according to a talent evaluator.

Side note, catcher Russell Martin’s return to the Yankees’ lineup lasted just one game.

The catcher’s lingering lower back stiffness flared up yesterday, prompting manager Joe Girardi to bench Martin for tonight’s game against the White Sox.

Sam Deduno of the Twins makes his first MLB start at Texas.

The right-hander went 1-2 with a 2.14 ERA and .185 BAA in nine starts for Triple-A Rochester. He posted a 3.18 ERA without a record in six major league appearances for Colorado and San Diego over the past two seasons.

Shoulder and elbow injuries set him back in previous seasons, and the 29-year old has a high 80's to low 90's fastball with a solid ground ball profile.
