Nice come from ahead effort in tonight's game. Still no road covers in Mountain West play. The lack of quality road wins could keep the Runnin' Rebels out of the NCAAs if UNLV is bounced early in the MWC tournament.
Still UNLV gets in, but five losses in the conference is troubling.

Not on the bubble per se, but I do think the Rebels need to sweep through the Mountain West Tournament to get a premium-type seed (meaning five-seed or above) and/or a favorable draw in either Albuquerque or Portland. Just a completely different team on the road, for whatever reason. They seem to be able to dictate the tempo of the game a lot better at the Thomas and Mack, which is understandable, as that's how it normally goes in the game of basketball. The home team usually dictates pace.
I watch this team a lot, and even heading into March, I can't put my finger on the exact problem. Rice is in his first season as a head coach, so he's got a learning curve. That probably plays a factor into making the right counter-adjustments, meaning adjustments after the other coach makes his own. I think the team does have some on-court leaders, but it just needs some more consistency, especially on the perimeter.
The thing is, if they get into the 3-2 game in the MWC Tourney, they'll likely have to beat both San Diego State AND New Mexico to win it. I think they can do that, but you'd rather not have that pathway, not to mention a potential tough game with a six-seed, if they draw the three. This team is still nails at home, and somebody will have to beat them at the Thomas and Mack ---- which hasn't happened yet. What happens in the Big Dance? I'd have to wait until the draw comes out.

UNLV vs. Anyone Who Plays Defense in the first round is a one-and-done. Put them up against South Florida or Virginia or Wisconsin...those teams will just let them take stupid shots.

The Rebel's last 12 games have now gone under in the second half 10 times and the 2 overs were with the help of OT. They're 3-8-1 ATS in the 2nd half in those 12 games. They're going to have a tough time with New Mexico tonight if they keep this trend going.

Thought I would be picking against UNLV but they got a nice matchup. They are playing a team that WOULD NOT have been in the tourney until they won yesterday. Also they are playing in a venue they play in every year. So I like UNLV to advance here.
