I did something different for the pitcher rankings this time. I added each pitcher's 2011 stats to the 2012 stats to get one rating. This may show a more accurate reading for each pitcher instead of using 20+ innings for this year.
I've done the 2012 as well and can post them if anyone would like, I just thought this may be a bit more accurate until each pitcher gets to 60-70+ innings pitched this year.
I'd be interested to hear what people think in regards to : at what innings milestone in 2012 to eliminate the 2011 stats or whether to just use the 2012 right now as an indicator.
This list shows every pitcher that has started a game in 2011-12.

| samip25 wrote on Thu, 03 May 2012 06:18 | Great stuff ebemiss! As for you question...I wouldn't be as interested in combined 2011 and 2012 stats as I am with the 20+ innings and last 7 starts. I think those are more important and going forward in the next few weeks you'll have a big enough sample size where 2011 is almost irrelevant. Thanks!
|
Ok. Here's what I've put together, it's a little busy, but I can scale back.
http://www.nationalsportsrankings.com/2012dailymlb
Each pitcher is listed with their rating in Yellow, and their IP in blue for 2012, last 7, 2011, and 2011 +12 combined.
Each of the pitchers last 7 starts have a rating next to their IP.
I've also added a L7PW (Last 7 projected wins), next to their actual wins.
That is what I think of as a "quality start" and if the pitcher stats indicate that they left their team in position to win the game.
You'll see some pitchers benefit from run support and their projected wins will be less than their actual wins over the last 7 games.
Other pitchers are throwing well, but they are not getting the W. That can be from their bullpen blowing up or lack of run support, or they've just been facing tougher pitchers/teams.
It's not as visually appealing as I'd like, I just wanted to add enough information to give an accurate account of the pitcher.
Take a look, let me know what you think. thanks
