Hey guys, my dad and I were having a discussion and the 1980 USA Russia hockey game came up. Does anyone know if there was a line for thst game, and if so what it was? We were debating back.and forth and I couldn't find the answer with Google. Any help or guesses would be appreciated.

I didn't move to Vegas until '86, although was coming out since '76, but never remember any book taking Olympic hockey bets. They barely were taking NHL action in the eighties.
Casino sportsbooks were in their infancy in 1980. Bookmaking was isolated to local bookies or “turf clubs” before 1975 no matter where you were in this country. Jackie Gaughan was the first bookmaker to open a sportsbook in a casino, (the Union Plaza in Las Vegas). Even the prototype of the modern sportsbook at The Stardust book didn't open until a year later.
My guess is no line was made for that game or bets accepted. Another strong reason for that belief was the game wasn't even carried on live TV in the USA. It played during prime time and the television broadcast began a hour or two after the game was over.

Thanks for both your responses. I had no idea sportsbooks didn't really exist then, had no clue. And 6.5 goals would be intense. Haha thanks a lot guys.
