It would have been a good fit for the Bobcats to give the job to Quin Snyder, as that would be on par with all the awful decisions the franchise continues to make. Of course, why would anyone really want this job???

Only six teams in the NBA have failed to make the playoffs for each of the last four years (not that hard to reach the postseason in this league!). The T-wolves have the longest current drought; eight years since their last appearances in 2004:
Team/Last Playoff Appearance:
Minnesota Timberwolves 2004
Sacramento Kings 2006
Golden State Warriors 2007
New Jersey Nets 2007
Toronto Raptors 2008
Washington Wizards 2008
Charlotte has NOBODY on the roster to build around -- a complete teardown job for Dunlap, and as ER pointed out, basically a hopeless situation. This team wasn't decimated with key injuries this year -- they were decimated with a lack of talent up and down the roster.
This team was in the playoffs as recently as 2009-10 when they won 44 games. In 2010-11, they were in the playoff hunt until the final two weeks of the season, eventually finishing ranked #10 in the East, with twice as many wins (34) as the worst team in the league (Sacramento, with 17 wins).
No surprise here if the Bobcats take a long, long time to rebuild even back into playoff contention. My strong hunch is that Dunlap will be long gone by the time Charlotte reaches the postseason once again.....
