Well this one looks easy. With Ethier out for the Dodgers, a team who has not scored in 30 straight innings, it would appear that Los Angeles are ripe for the picking by the Metropolitan's who are looking at a 17 run out burst in their rear view mirror. Take the Mets right? Wrong!
For me, I will have a hard time backing a Met team that falsely feels good about itself, traveling across most of the country to face a Dodger team that has been amazing at home, as a favorite (40-14 74.07%).
Sending out Chris Capuano will help keep the pressure off of the Dodger offense to score five runs to win. Capuano (9-2 2.60era) is unbeaten at Dodger Stadium after compiling a 11-12 4.55era last season with the New York Mets. I have to think there is a little extra motivation and focus to pitch well against his former team.
Capuano's off speed pitches have become more effective because it appears he has gained a couple miles per hour on his fastball.
New York starter, Chris Young, is 2-5 4.02era in his last 14 starts vs LA including a 1-4 5.40 mark at Dodgers Stadium in 9 starts.
I feel that if the Dodgers can muster 2-3 runs it will be enough to get the best of the Mets who are 4-9 in their last 13 attempts vs. a LHP.
As of 2:20 the public is hammering the Mets so at -125 we are getting a good price.
