In what was viewed as a virtual toss-up going in, it looks like Justin Verlander will get the nod as American League starter in the upcoming All-Star Game in KC next Tuesday.

People I spoke to thought David Price would have been in line to get the start, due to his 1st half performance and how his spot in the rotation for TB set him up nicely for the midsummer classic, but a source of mine reached out to AL pitching coach Mike Maddux, and he confirmed that they're going to go with Verlander.

Close call. Even though Price recently outdueled Verlander, JV overall resume is slightly better.
