Great job Marty getting this Olympics thread up and running!

Let's get the discussion going, I know some of you out there have bets on the Olympics, and perhaps you are an expert or knowledgeable in an Olympic sport that most of us know little or nothing, like Cycling, Shooting or Judo? Let's put our heads together and make some money!

I have been pounding the pavement for months in anticipation for these Olympic Games. I would say that I'm ready and well prepared in Track and Field, Swimming, Rowing, Badminton, Tennis, Golf (next Olympics!) Diving, Volleyball (not Beach Volleyball) and Gymnastics.

If you have any questions, fire away, the Olympics has already started with Men's and Women's Soccer...

I played several parlays yesterday with Brazil -500, because my book had that line posted far too low IMO. The line on the Brazil v. Egypt match should have been around -700 or higher, and the line movement raced upwards of that today. It's 3-0 at the half in favor of the Brazilians. They are the only truly dominant team in this Olympics, although Mexico may offer some value moving forward off of their 0-0 draw today.

Good stuff. I did not get involved with Soccer, but thought the Women's USA team was worth a look at +190, they want revenge from 2008. Brazil should roll.

I have a buddy that follows Water Polo. (I do not)

He bet Serbia because he said they are the dirtiest team in the world and that sometimes the key to winning at water polo is the holding and grabbing that goes on under the water.

He also mentions to stay away from the OV/UN they land too often near the betting line.

Bobano, or anyone else have a beat on Water Polo?

Good question. You would think that would be a huge advantage. However, those Finals are on Aug 2nd, at that point in the Olympics both Phelps and Lochte will have already swam for 5 days and at least 9 heats/prelims. Obviously, they'll both be tired. No doubt, if Lochte loses that will be his excuse, but I've said along that if these two guys are in the same race, pass.

There are so many other better wagering opportunities in swimming or other events than sweating out a Phelps-Lochte race.

Wow, Lohte blows away the field in the 400IM. Phelps 4th no medal.

I noticed that sportsbooks had head to head betting between Lochte and Phelps right up to post time. Lochte was as high as -290.

Alf, what is a good line for Jamaica 4x100 team relay. I'm seeing about -300 now. Any chance these guys lose?

I took Blake on the 100m at +160. Hopefully Bolt DQ's out of the blocks again like in Korea.

I have a problem with betting relays. I've been burned before with the best team and the best price only to have them drop that damm batton. The heavy meet favorite USA RED women's team just did exactly that recently in the Monaco Diamond League event.

Sure, The Jamaicans should win on paper with the Beast, Bolt and Powell, and they opened high around -250. If they just had to tag their partner, I'd lay -300, but with the batton, no thanks.

Michael Phelps did not drown, but was out-touched at the wall for Gold in his specialty the 200m Fly.

He is tied for the all-time lead in Olympics medals, one more not a problem he has relays and an IM left to go.
