His HC is prolly the best groomer of QB's in the NFL and his OC is his former TAMU HC. He knows the system and is prolly more likely to perform at a higher level than most rookie QB's

I am a big Tannehill fan, and I was excited when the Dolphins drafted him. I love his arm strength and playing in Sherman's offense is only going to help his adjust right off the hop. That being said, like Alf said he does get a bunch of balls batted down at the line and some of that is a function of the shoddy OLine in Miami. But perhaps his biggest problem this season will be a lack of depth at WR, heck a lack of anyone at WR for him to throw the ball to. This will be a good learning year for him and I expect the Dolphins to be very active in next year's draft getting some young receivers early. OK, so what does all this mean for handicapping purposes??? Only one way to look to play this Miami team and that is OVER the total. Their defense is not what it was last season and they are playing such an up tempo style there will be plenty of possessions for each team. I am not going to look it up, but I think that the Dolphins may have a total of 80 rushing yards over the course of the first two preseason games. Definitely going to be an uptempo offense that will need to put points on the board to compete
*Just to clairfy, not over the season win totaol but over the point total in regular season games.

Not good, in any way shape or form; the only successful drive the Dolphins had with him on the field came when he converted on 3rd and 9, 3rd and 10 and 3rd and 10. Everything else was three and outs, poorly thrown balls, balls batted down, etc etc.

Not everyone is going to be Andrew Luck out of the gates. I like Tannehill in the long run or lets put it this way, for the direction the team is going, rebuilding etc, he is the best option over Moore and even Garrard if he is healthy. He has no weapons around him unfortunately.

The "interception" is a common element of a Mike Sherman offense. All his QB's throw picks but they also throw alot of TD's. Its an aggressive downfield attack type scheme. No dinking and dunking. Tannehill hasn't played enough at the position to make any determination good or bad. Point is, he is tall, good arm, athletic, tough, coached by a QB guru and in a system he is familiar with. Meaning he has some of the most important things going for him to be a good QB. He is out there to make plays, not manage a game. Philban made Matt Flynn good, he wasn't allowed to throw in college. Tannehill was sacked just 9 times last season. The yr before TAMU allowed 37 sacks. While he didn't takeover until game 7 I cant tell you how many of those were him being sacked without my 2011 PS copy in front of me. Id say in his second season his sack to PA ratio drastically improved. Thats because he got quicker at his reads. Much the same as when Cutler would get the ball out quicker in Martz system. People think the Bears Oline sucked but their protection schemes aren't made for holding the ball 5 seconds. When Cutler finally got rid of the ball quicker you seen an explosive offense. I mean lets be honest, can any of yall name a TAMU skill player from the past two seasons? They averaged 40 LY with scrubs in a conference that turns out overrated high draft picks on offense.

Marshall a Beast? Ever watch him around the goalline? Undrafted Jeff Fuller? How bout you explain, "in depth", what 7for07 would consider important attributes for a young QB to have for success in the NFL. Not saying Tannehill is great, I will say he is the best QB I've ever seen that played more WR than QB in college. Think about how hard that might be to go from running routes to running a complex pro style offense mid-season and win 6 in a row (3 ranked). I will say that he "on paper" would be a more attractive QB prospect than an Aaron Rodgers or Matt Flynn coming out of college. I can make a much better case for why he will be good than bad. Throwing swings to the flat to Reggie Bush matched up on a Will would prolly be a good idea btw. I went 1-4 last year backing TAMU, so I can be objective here. Tell me why he sucks beside the fact he plays for the Dolphins org. Tell me why the Dolphins with him and Philbin can't be like the Mike Smith/Matt Ryan combo that came right in and won a bunch of games in the best division in 08 in the NFL(all 4 .500 or better) when they were supposed to be horrible forever. Fact is we don't know anything for sure so how do you know he will suck and the Dolphins will suck? Based on what? A pair of pre-season games? Educate me.| 7for07 wrote on Wed, 22 August 2012 16:01 | What receivers are on the team that will help? They kicked Marshall to the Bears. The guy's a beast. Bess, Naanee are to the NFL receivers, what A&M receivers were. In fact, isn't Jeff Fuller on the team from ... A&M!!! Swing passes to Bush and all his downfield passes will be to the TE Clay.
Stop making excuses for Tannehill. Can't wait until they're 1-5, having played 4 teams that won't make the playoffs to see what excuses that are given for Tannehill stinking.

Clearly, you've lost perspective on QB play. Tannehill's play in college says he can't play.
Don't compare Matt Ryan to Tannehill. Matt Ryan single-handily put BC on his back by beating Va Tch to reach a BCS bowl game!!! Tannehill has NO such proven success.
Don't compare Aaron Rodgers to Tannehill. Rodgers team went 10-1 in college. Tannehill went 6-6.
Don't compare Matt Flynn to Tannehill. His college team won a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! Tannehill went 1-4 in last 5 college regular season games.
How does a QB like Tannehill lead a 6-6 team get to be thought of as a good QB? How does a QB go 1-4 in his last 5 regular season game get seen as any good?
Statistically, Tannehill was the 50th most accurate passer out of the top 100 in college last year and 60th per pass attempt.

Kudos to Tannehill for pulling the wool over people's eyes in believing that he's a potential QB by having an attractive girlfriend. He should take a gander at Matt Jones and move back to receiver if he wants more than 3 yrs in the NFL. I'll wager that Nick Foles and Russell Wilson have better NFL careers than Tannehill.
