Nobody can pronounce or spell 'Sevransky' correctly, and it certainly doesn't roll off the tongue very easily. Hence the nicknames.
Seat Williams still calls me 'Playboy Teddy' for the article that I had in Playboy about college basketball betting a few years back (no pictorial, sorry
Rob Veno tagged me with the 'Teddy Covers' moniker a few years back, and it stuck. But Tim will often call me something like 'Teddy Totals' when I come with a strong Over/Under play and similar such nicknaming.
I've got a strong teaser reccommendation for Saturday's NFL card. It's posted in my blog here:
http://www.sportsmemo.com/handicappers/ted/blog/#
Maybe the new nickname on the air next week will be 'Teddy Teaser' ....

Well, I'm gonna stick with my angle on 10 point teased up dogs again. So far they are 17-1-1. This week I got:
MIN +11/OAK +11/CAR +11 teaser 1
TEN +14/CHI +16'/AZ +14' teaser 2
CIN +13/GB +14/JAX +13 teaser 3 (played GB too early)

When’s a “sharp” play not a “sharp” play?
While most books out there have the Panthers as a 1.5 or 2 point favorite Pinnacle is no dummy. They are way ahead of you on your (sharp play) teaser Teddy.
With their adjustable lines, they choose to list the Giants as a 1 point favorite, albeit with +118 vig. So when you go to their teaser page, (which conveniently is not adjustable), they list the Giants +5, with a six point teaser. But of course you not only have the worst of a terrible number, being less than 7.5 or 8 but lose out on the juice two times over as well. You lose the +118 on the Giants….they also have the Lions at -7 -102 AND instead you still have to lay the 11/10.

Oh ya, Pinnacle is one of the if not THEE shapest book out there...I often can get a great read on a game from comparing and analyizing pinnys lines and line movements to other books...

Millineum still has even money on two team six point NFL teasers.

I think choosing to tease car up to +7.5 or better when it was available or teasing the gmen now to +7.5 are both about equally attractive.
I personally will not generally tease down a favorite in the preseason as getting points seem much more comforting to me...But if the colts go to 7.5, I would strongly consider them as a play for a teasing scenario.
Good luck out there.
Sorry for pissing in this thread.

Teddy, I have 3 teasers today from Stations that I did on Tuesdat Am....(Titans +11 to Panthers +8), (Raiders +7 to Lions Pick) and (Colts +1/2 to Bills +1)....
would you recomend to middle the Panthers now to (Giants +7.5 and take them to Lions Pick) as giants are +1.5 and Lions -7 at Stations now.

Hitman:
Giants appaer to be +3 everywhere this morning. Panthers +8 and Giants +3 as a striaght bet is a high % middle.
I don't middle every time I have the edge. If I like my original wager, I'll just keep it. having the absolute best of the number can easily add a handful of points to your overall winning %. If I have seen/heard/felt somthing that makes me concerned about the original wager, I'll take some or all of my bet back on the other side.
IMHO, people get too concerned with middles and scalps, whether it's prior to kickoff or at halftime. Sure, there's something to be said for locking in a few cents of profit on games where you have no strong opinion, other than a feel for which way the line is going to move. But if you like your bet and have the best of the number, why risk it?

I knew the stupid Packers were wrong after I bet it. 8 of my 9 get there though, so 2-1 on the day. As of right now, before the MIA and SF games are decided, dogs +10 points stand at 27-2-1. Naturally, I had one of the two, GB. GOD, are they awful after Favre leaves. 3 points in two games without him, and I think they crossed midfield once. If Favre gets hurt, GB loses every game he can't play in.

Well, I was a 4th and 7 stop away from getting that new nickname. Frustrating result with Detroit. They turned the ball over five times. 1st and goal twice, two FG's. Two of the INT's came inside the Browns 10 yard line.
Even with all that, all they needed was a 4th and 7 stop, a minute left in the 4th quarter, 13-7, up 6 (validating the tease).
Browns HC Crennel brings in Braylon Edwards off the bench. The announcers know it's going to be a fade to the #3 draft choice. I know it's going to be a fade to the #3 draft choice. Dick Jauron leaves his CB in single coverage on the outside.
Touchdown Browns. Fade to Braylon Edwards. 14-13 Cleveland.
Detroit still has a chance, but a wacky final play = fumble return for a TD for Cleveland. 21-13 Final. And the G-men didn't need the extra points.
So it goes....

Gonna rethink my teaser strategy for next week, since most teams will be having the ever-popular "dress rehearsal" week. May lay off the teasing next week and go back to it for each team's final pre-season game.
How 'bout "Teddy Toughloss?" Man, that was a brutal one in DET today.

Ya, I agree with you scott on the pack. They aren't that good with favre in, if he leaves it could get real ugly. I took the pack as well. I had the line at bills by 10. With them dominating the pack in the scrimmage 2 weeks ago I couldn't believe the line was 6. Easy money for those who had the bills, lol Packers were missing 5 defensive starters but don't think it would of mattered. The pack has no depth at all! ! ! Rodgers looks like he is going to be a bust like I have been saying since they took him. You will get your money back scott and them some betting against the pack this year so don't fret....

I almost want to bet them under 7.5 on the hunch that Favre gets knocked out for at least a few games. With Favre out, this team needs to take the "G" off their helmets and paint them fully orange, if you know what I mean. They are one hit away from becoming the Cleveland Browns (yeah, they are 2-0, but how many times did AZ go 4-0 in pre-season only to go 3-13?).

Man, just realized that the teaser I had where I took the most points, those teams all won straight up (TEN, CHI, AZ). Would have been a sweet a 3-team pleaser (or Ultimate Challenge, as the Stardust calls them).

that's why teasing a favorite sucks and is a bad play. Tease the dogs if you're going to tease at all, especially in a 10-13 point teaser, you'll win 90% of the time. Teasing favs probably fails 50% of the time. so you went 1-1 vs the spread and lost one unit instead of .1 unit.

To watch Vick and McNabb make these blunders, fumbles, INT's is ridiculous for supposed 'pro bowl' QB's. Atlanta has had FIVE or SIX possessions other than their two TD's in scoring territory, and NO POINTS...! I mentioned some time ago why it's hard for me to bet on Atlanta...Vick's propensity for mistakes and turnovers is too high. The fumble on the Philly 20 after a holding call on the TD that would have iced the game is the clincher. Not even a FG attempt. Just like earlier. We'll see if they hold on. This one should have been over some time ago.

that's why they're both flawed Jay. Donovan makes a ton of mistakes in big games and gets rattled when his first look isn't there. Same with Vick, first looks not there and these guys don't know what to do. Plus neither one of them values the ball. Great great athletic talent laden kids, but don't have "it" to win a super bowl title. At least Vick will tuck it in and run sometimes, didn't Donovan used to be able to run a bit?? Then how bout McNAbb on 4th and 10 throwing an 8 yard pass?! timeout saved him temporarily. But how much longer can Reid cover for this guys' lack of stepping up in the clutch?

Most, if not all, QB's have this problem. Split second decisions are what we bet on. These were 2 of maybe the most swarming defenses in the league. Give credit to the defense once in awhile.
Hint: Tennessee may have the worse pass defense in the league. No upfront rush at all. Roethlisberger should not have been able to do that.

totally agree that McNabb cannot step up in big games. The two things that lost this game for Philly were McNabb's poor desicion making and his inaccurate passing. It seemed like every series they lost a down because of an innaccurate throw. His backward pass fumble was awful, good QBs don't make that throw. His other fumble was from pure indecisivness. This guy used to be able to run. If it wasn't there just tuck it and run! Plus you have to get the ball to TO down the stretch. For all the praises Madden was giving DeAngelo Hall I still think it as clear TO could beat him everytime as long as the ball was catchable. I do respect McNabb for staying in and playing after he got a major spearing (non call) in the chest, but I don't think that's what effected his passing and certainly not his decisions. Maybe it kept him from running but...this game was exactly why McNabb is still a tier lower than Brady and Peyton.
