Yes indeed, very nice site. Is there going to be a baseball contest yet??? I was wondering as well... Ah, ha....I see you all got your mugs up on your profiles. You all better stick with radio, muahahahahaaa For some reason I pictured Truschel as more of a butterbean type looking guy, instead he looks like a teddy covers who hits the all you can eat buffet 3 times per day, hehe (just teasing, I am bigger, fatter, uglier than all combined)
"Lets get it on!"

C.C. Sabathia was nailed for eight runs in 2 2/3 innings by the A's tonight. Sabathia has a 6.13 ERA in 16 starts since the end of April. He is just not right.
He seems to be pitching with an injury.

I know I said he looked hurt in his start on on 6/20 against the Red Sox and went against him on 7/1 against Balt as he was lights-out. Since losing 4 straight and looking bad doing it. Confidence seems to be an issue...
"I'm so confused right now, I can't tell the difference between a good pitch and a bad pitch," said Sabathia after taking his fourth consecutive loss.

I hope you all were able to get my play today I posted it in the old forum site at 5 am this morning. It was the Dodgers -130.
Also I noted that there was going to be a college FB contest at Leroy's. 32 games, pick 7, 1/2 point lines, 50K payout for all places. Also, a web site where rocords will be kept as well as consensus picks of the contestants will be noted. For just $250, up to 3 entries. I plan to enter and hope I have 7 games a week I have strong stats on to select as plays.
Good Luck!!

I'm looking forward to the Leroy's contest. With 32 games to choose seven from each week, it has a far superior format to the old Park Place (Bally's, Hilton etc) contest that forced us to pick ten of the twenty games that they bothered to put a line up for each week. The $250 entry fee ensures a prize pool worth winning, as opposed to the $50 entry fee that Park Place charged. When Jimmy Vaccaro gets involved in a project, the results are generally very good, and Vaccaro's stamp is all over the Leroy's contest....

In watching tonight's Boston-Tampa Bay game it is absolutely incredible to see such a raucous, partisan Red Sox crowd. The place virtually exploded with the ninth inning Boston comback, went wild on a magnificent 2 out catch by Johnny Damon in the bottom of the ninth and then fully erupted when Damon led off the 10th with an HR. Don't believe I've ever seen a visiting crowd dominate the stadium noise level the way Bosox followers have in Tampa.

I live 2 miles from the Trop.....Whenever the Yanks(see Tampa Yankees) or the Bo Sox are in town, it's EASILY 5-1 visitor fanbase.....
It used to be the same way at the Lightning games when Philly or Detroit came to town.......
Who got the last laugh there!!!!

Nearly got it again tonight as Schilling barely survived another blown save and loss with a very shaky bottom of the 9th (Damon's catch saved him) and bottom of the 10th.

Bosox pitcher Clement conscious after taking liner to the head
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Boston Red Sox pitcher Matt Clement was alert and conscious after taking a line drive to the right side of the head hit by Tampa Bay's Carl Crawford.
Sox manager Terry Francona pats Matt Clement as the pitcher leaves the field in St. Petersburg.
By Steve Nesius, AP
Clement could be seen blinking his eyes when he was placed on the stretcher before authorities took him to Bayfront Medical Center.
"He had some numbness throughout the site where he got hit behind the right ear," said Lt. Rick Feinberg of the St. Petersburg Fire-Rescue. The hospital did not immediately comment on Clement's condition.
After he was hit, Clement remained on the ground and barely moved for about five minutes before he was lifted onto the stretcher and immobilized with a neck brace. Replays showed the force of Crawford's liner knocked the All-Star pitcher completely off his feet.
The ball caromed off the back of Clement's head, just behind his right ear, into short left field for an RBI single in the third inning. Concerned teammates gathered around the fallen pitcher as medical personnel attended to him on the mound. The crowd cheered as he was carried off, but his arms remained strapped across his chest.
Chad Bradford replaced Clement with Boston leading the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 5-1, and the game resumed after an 11-minute delay. Three batters later, Aubrey Huff hit a grand slam off Bradford to tie the score. Clement was charged with three runs and four hits in 2 1-3 innings.

How far the ball bounded off his head was rather surreal. I would say a very tough event to comeback from...

With Larry Brown now reportedly having been offered the Knicks head coaching job it's time to sit back and wonder if he can mold this roster into the type of team that he just left in Detroit. Knowing that Brown prefers a system predicated on defense and good shot selection how can he convert this list of fast breaking gunners and lackadaisical defenders over to his proclaimed "right way" of playing. With Stephon Marbury and jack rabbitt rookie Nate Robinson as the point guards, Jamaal Crawford & Alan Houston as the shooting guards (Crawford may not be a Knick when the '05 season starts) and Quentin Richardson & Tim Thomas at the small forward how in the world is Brown going to get anything but 48 minutes of 94 foot greyhound pace. Throw in a bunch of undersized low post players Maurice Taylor (takes every shot he can), Mike Sweetney, Malik Rose, Jerome Williams and rookies David Lee & Channing Frye and you've the perfect makings of a team that should be coached by Paul Westhead or Doug Moe. We know Brown loves to teach team basketball but I personally think this group is gonna do things their way and engage in a host of 115-110 type contests which will throw LB over the edge.
Brown's agent says offer made, contract not final
Associated Press
NEW YORK -- Larry Brown has been offered a contract by the New York Knicks to become the franchise's 22nd head coach, his agent said Tuesday.
"An offer has been made, but that doesn't mean a contract has been completed. Nothing has been finalized," said Joe Glass, Brown's longtime agent.
No formal announcement of Brown's hiring was expected Wednesday, making Thursday the most likely day that Brown will sit at a podium alongside team president Isiah Thomas and owner James Dolan to make things absolutely, positively official.
That scenario, of course, can only happen if there are no snags.
And with the 64-year-old Brown, who has coached seven NBA teams and two college teams, the likelihood of a snag can never be underestimated.
"We're making progress, and we're continuing to talk at this point," Knicks spokesman Joe Favorito said Tuesday.
Glass was not sure when contract negotiations might wrap up.
"Too hard to say," said Glass, 80, whose son has been an agent for several NBA players. "There's no time factor as far as we're concerned. We'll get it done as soon as we get it done."
Brown had dinner Monday night with Thomas and interim coach Herb Williams, a meeting that Brown described as "positive." Brown had been uneasy about the prospect of displacing Williams as coach.
"That was a huge obstacle for me, not for him," Brown said. "It's not at all anymore."
Brown's wife, Shelly, had been concerned about her husband's health. Brown missed 17 games last season due to a hip replacement operation that led to a bladder problem, and Brown underwent his third surgery in nine months shortly after the Pistons lost Game 7 of the NBA Finals to the San Antonio Spurs.
Doctors at the Mayo Clinic told Brown he needed rest, and he and his wife have decided he'll get enough of it during the next two months before training camp begins.
Brown's two young children also are enthused about the move to New York.
"No one wants this to drag on," Shelly Brown said. "I know everyone's on the same page."
The Knicks' hiring of Brown would come a little more than a week after he parted ways with the Detroit Pistons after two seasons -- both of which ended with trips to the NBA Finals.
Trying to turn the rebuilding Knicks into a winner would be the latest challenge for Brown in a nomadic NBA coaching career that has included stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio Spurs, New Jersey Nets and Denver Nuggets. Brown also coached collegiately at Kansas and UCLA, and his first professional coaching job was with the Carolina Cougars of the ABA.
Brown was the coach of the 2004 U.S. Olympic team that finished a disappointing third. Part of that roster included Knicks guard Stephon Marbury, who would be reunited with Brown.
New York reportedly is willing to offer Brown a five-year contract worth between $50 million and $60 million.
Still unclear is what role Williams would have with the Knicks under Brown, and which of New York's current assistant coaches might remain with the club.
Williams' head coaching contract expires Sunday, but his assistant coaching contract has another year left. The Knicks finished 33-49 last season and missed the playoffs for the third time in four years.

Why a guy with health problems would want this mess is beyond me. All these guys are non-Brown types. Offense first, themselves first. It'd be maybe his best job yet to turn this franchise around. Good Luck!!!
