Allonzo Trier: Tests positive for banned substance, declared ineligible by NCAA
This news sends shockwaves through the Arizona roster and the college hoops landscape at large as Trier is now ineligible as of Thursday. Trier tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug last season, which resulted in a lengthy suspension. In a statement from the school on Thursday, Arizona declared "The amount detected was minuscule by scientific standards and appears to be a remnant of a substance, which the NCAA agreed, Allonzo had unknowingly ingested in 2016." Arizona will appeal the NCAA's ruling, but until further notice, Trier will not be eligible to play for the Wildcats.
