NCAA HOCKEY TOURNAMENT | Views: 1637 |

The NCAA Hockey Tournament gets underway Friday and most books offer lines for these games. I remember my first ever forum post in 2006 on Sportsmemo was sharing an NCAA Hockey Tounrmanet pick with everyone. I have yet to see any lines for Friday night, just some futures (TheGreek) on who will win each Regional. My alma mater Cornell will be taking on Michigan in the Midwest Regional on Friday night at 9pm EST on ESPNU. Cornell is the #4 seed in the Midwest, while Michigan is the #1 seed. Michigan will definitely be the favorite in this meeting. Cornell has some major lineup problems right now that not too many people realize. They will more than likely have to change up some of their systems because of the amount of injuries to skilled players. This is not a good spot for Cornell by any means. Updates to come when some lines are posted.

From what I just saw, Michigan open up as -380 favorites and it was bet down to -320. They posted Michigan -2.5 +115 and quickly money came in on Cornell PL to drop it to Michigan -1.5 -115. This is a very playable line in my opinion. Total is set at 5.

Another game of note...
Michigan State vs Union Under 5.5 -115
Union has an incredible defense and Michigan State has trouble scoring. The Spartans have been shutout in 2 of their last 4 games. That being said, Union has struggled offensively against some of the "stronger" conferences this season and Michigan State may have enough defense of their own to keep this one in range for them. Under 5.5 is the play in that one.

Really nice SP. I have a feeling you know more about this than those setting odds

Thanks, unfortunately the books know they have little to no grasp on these lines and that is why you see the limits on these games are close to nothing. I see $100 limit and $250 limits on the books I have odds on. Vegas casinos may take more action on these games though. I specifically remember betting 1k at the Wynn on Air Force +3.5 goals against Minnesota in 2007. |

Michigan -1.5 +103
I can't bring myself to play against my team, but I recommend this to anyone who enjoys money and wants a little action on the game.

Not a bad day, I ended up adding Union in there as well at -165 for a profitable day. The Big Red with a HUGE upset last night in overtime to end Michigan's hopes. Cornell takes on Ferris State tonight with the winner going to the Frozen Four in Tampa Bay in two weeks (you can bet I'll be there if they win)! Onto some games for today, here is what I will be playing...
North Dakota -175 (2 units)
ND is much the class in this one
Union -135 (2 units)
Union u5.5 -120 (2 units)
Another low scoring game from the most under the radar team in the tournament. They will get their chances against a more free wheeling Lowell team, but their team defense and goaltending is tops in the tournament in my mind.
Boston University +115 (1 unit)
BU goes into Minnesota trying to beat the Gophers in Minnesota and I think they get the job done here in a hostile environment. They have a lot of depth and can pull the mini upset against a Minnesota team that is very down this year.
Cornell u5 -105 (1 unit)
The Big Red know the only way to win this game is in a low scoring affair. One thing Cornell has always done well is limit the amount of mistakes they make and limit the number of opportunities their opponents have. Despite their lack of offense in the lineup they know their defense can win the game. Expect a 2-1 type game here tonight where defense and goaltending rule the ice.
Good luck
Sam

Funny you say the Gophers are down this year. This is their first appearance since '07 and Lucia is kinda feeling the heat. This one SHOULD be close, good luck today.
