NHL Handicapper Free Betting Pick: Arizona Coyotes at Calgary Flames

04.03.2018     10:17 AM     ICC     Printer Friendly
Submitted by ICC

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Arizona +110 at Calgary O/U 5.5
Recommendation: Arizona

The Calgary Flames snapped an ugly 7-game losing streak by beating Edmonton 3-2 in their last game but they were very lucky to do so. The Flames got out to a early lead because of terrible goaltending by Edmonton netminder Cam Talbot and had to hang on for dear life to win as the Oilers dominated the last two periods especially the third period but just couldn't find a way to tie up that game. Betting against Calgary repeatedly since they were officially eliminated from playoff contention has been a staple of my recent handicapping in the NHL and I will try my chances once again betting against a demoralized and injury riddled Calgary team tonight minus TJ Brodie and Travis Hamonic two key starting defensemen on their blue line as well as forwards Sean Monahan, Matthew Tkachuk and Kris Versteeg. Flames goalie Mike Smith finally played one of his better games in net for Calgary in that win over Edmonton on Saturday night but he's been lacking consistency and the ability to follow up a good start with another one all season long. On the flip side, the full season record Read more

NCAA Tournament Betting: Both offshore and Las Vegas sportsbooks move Villanova to -7

04.02.2018     11:37 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
A few hours from tip-off and there doesn't appear to be a sharp/square divide on tonight's NCAA National Championship. After opening -6.5, a handful of Las Vegas sportsbooks started to move to -7. Earlier today, every major offshore sportsbook followed suit. As of 11:30 am PT, virtually every shop on the planet is dealing -7. There is some opinion on the total: offshore sitting at 144.5 while Las Vegas is at 145.5 as well as 146un-115 at CG Technology. According to Sports Options, 72% of the betting public is on the over while 60% is on the favorite, Villanova.

NBA Gambling: Phoenix Suns in the driver's sear to win Tank-a-Thon

04.02.2018     11:30 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
The race for last is winding down with a little over a week to go in the NBA regular season. The Phoenix Suns, on the strength of a 1-18 SU record since the All-Star break, have a 2.5-game "lead" over the Memphis Grizzlies who for whatever reason decided to win two of their last four. Dallas and Sacramento actually have winning spread records while Chicago is 5-1 SU/ATS against fellow tankers.

Team (overall record) SU/ATS records post-All-Star Break; SU/ATS vs. fellow tankers
1. Phoenix (19-59) 1-18/8-11; 1-2, 3-0
2. Memphis (21-56) 3-18/8-13; 0-5/0-5
3. Atlanta (22-55) 4-14/5-12-1; 2-2, 1-3
4. Orlando (22-54) 4-15/7-12; 2-4, 1-5
5. Dallas (23-54) 5-14/10-9; 3-1, 3-1
6. Sacramento (25-53) 7-14/12-9; 3-1, 3-1
7. Chicago (26-51) 6-14/10-10; 5-1/5-1
8. New York (27-50) 4-14/8-10; 2-2/2-2

Overall: 34-121 SU, 68-86-1 ATS as of 4/2

Billy Walters adjusting to life in prison

04.02.2018     11:10 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
In case you forgot, legendary sports bettor Billy Walters is currently in prison for insider trading. ESPN Outside the Lines put together a great piece on Walters' fall from grace including his relationship with Phil Mickelson.

"There are a number of benefits -- jobs, taxes, allowing Americans to engage in an activity that is already taking place legally [in Nevada and offshore sites]. License the people involved to keep out the criminal element."

"Everybody in this country bets on sports. If you were to take away the office pools, fantasy pools, people betting on sports, I guarantee the [TV] viewership would be cut in less than half."

"You look at something like that and what I got is a temporary situation. It is not a good situation. It is clearly something I never dreamed would happen. And what has happened and the way it happened is as bad as it gets, but I do have a perspective. This will end. I don't know when it will end, but it will end. My life will go on. And I
