Brewers vs Giants Analysis
After sweeping the Nationals in a three-game series, the Giants travel to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers. The Brewers are coming off a 2-1 series win against the Phillies in Philadelphia.
Lefty Sam Long will be on the hill for the Giants and Corbin Burnes takes the bump for the Brewers. Milwaukee is -200 favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at seven runs.
Burnes in Midseason Form for Brewers
Milwaukee is currently tied for first in the NL Central and is 10-6 on the season so far. The Brewers have struggled mightily on offense so far this season. However, the Brewers’ rotation and bullpen have been fantastic and have kept the Brewers in games despite their lack of offense.
Corbin Burnes, the 2021 NL Cy Young winner, will make his fourth start of the season. After a shaky first outing, Burnes has settled in and is returning to his Cy Young form. In his last start, Burnes went 7 innings and allowed just two runs on four hits, and had 10 Ks.
Giants Gunning For NL West Crown
After surprising the baseball world last season, the Giants are out to show the MLB that last season was no fluke, and they are doing it convincingly.
The Giants are 11-5 so far this season and are a half-game behind the Dodgers for first in the NL West. San Francisco gets on base, manufactures runs, and has a great pitching staff.
Sam Long will make his second start for the Giants this season. However, this will be Long’s fourth appearance of the season. Long has pitched just 4.1 innings this season and has allowed one walk, two hits, no runs, and has struck out four.
Brewers vs Giants Prediction
Yes, Corbin Burnes may be the best healthy pitcher in the NL right now, but should the Brewers really be near -200 favorites? That number seems inflated.
I think the Brewers can certainly win this matchup, but I do not think there is any value in a -200 favorite against another very good team.
I recommend the Giants +1.5 for this matchup. San Francisco is arguably the better team, so getting a run and a half as insurance is great value for this matchup.
Prediction: San Francisco Giants +1.5 (-125)
