Cardinals vs Giants Analysis
The Giants are on a five-game winning streak, and they will travel to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals. St. Louis lost their last series vs the Orioles and has dropped four of their last five games.
Logan Webb will make the start for San Francisco and Jordan Hicks will make the start for St. Louis. The Giants are -120 road favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 7.5 runs.
Giants Preview
San Francisco is one of the hottest teams in the MLB right now. The Giants are 19-12 on the season and have won five straight games. Unfortunately for the Giants, they play in the NL West, so a 19-12 record has them in third place in the division. San Francisco has been getting it done with power, timely hitting, and great pitching.
Logan Webb will make the start for the Giants tonight in St. Louis for his seventh start of the season. Through six starts, Webb has gone 35.1 innings allowing 41 hits, 15 runs, eight walks, and striking out 27. The Giants are 5-1 in games Webb starts and he has let up three or more runs in four of his six starts.
Cardinals Preview
The Cardinals started off the season hot, but have cooled off over the past two weeks. The Cardinals have lost four of their last five games and have fallen to 17-14 on the season.
St. Louis is batting .240 on the season and has scored just 136 runs. Their slugging percentage is .377 which is in the top third of the Majors.
Jordan Hicks will make the start for St. Louis tonight at home. This will be Hicks’s fifth start of the season, but he has also made two relief appearances so far.
In his four starts, the Cardinals are 2-2. Hicks has gone 16.2 innings allowing seven runs, 10 hits, 10 walks, and 18 strikeouts. Hicks needs to limit runners on base in order to shut down the Giants lineup that boasts a .381 slugging percentage.
Cardinals vs Giants Prediction
The Giants are road favorites and I agree with this line. I think this number may also increase as the day goes on. These teams have squared off four times this season and the season series is split 2-2.
The last time Hicks pitched vs San Francisco, he went 4.1 innings allowing two runs and three hits. The last time Logan Webb went against the Giants, he went five innings and allowed four runs on eight hits. I expect Webb to bounce back and pitch better and the Giants to take the win on the moneyline.
Prediction: San Francisco Giants Moneyline
