Cardinals vs Mets Analysis
After winning a road series in Arizona vs the Diamondbacks, the Mets will travel to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals in a three-game series.
St. Louis won their last series against the Reds in Cincinnati. Max Scherzer will be on the hill for the Mets and Miles Mikolas will make the start for the Cardinals. The Mets are -150 road favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 7 runs.
Mikolas Up For Tough Task
The Cardinals have been red hot to start this season and they have been great at home. St. Louis is 3-1 at Busch Stadium this season and 9-5 overall.
St. Louis has gotten solid pitching from their rotation and their lineup has shown some pop so far this season.
Miles Mikolas will take the bump for the Cardinals for his fourth start of the season. Mikolas has been involved in three no decisions, but the Cardinals have won all three of his previous starts.
In his last outing against the Marlins, Mikolas allowed four hits, no walks, no runs, and five strikeouts in five innings pitched.
Scherzer is Simply Amazing
After an off-season filled with moves to improve the roster, the early returns are positive for the Mets. New York has the most wins in the National League and is a force to be reckoned with.
Whether it be on the mound or in the batters’ box, the Mets are talented, deep, and really good this season.
Max Scherzer, the Mets’ prized free-agent signing, will make his fourth start of the season vs the Cardinals.
Scherzer is 3-0 on the season, and the scary thing is, he hasn’t even looked his best. In his last outing vs the Giants, Scherzer allowed one run on one hit, three walks, and 10 Ks in seven innings.
Cardinals vs Mets Prediction and Best Bet
The Mets are a -150 road favorite for a simple reason – they are the better team with the better starting pitcher. However, where I find more value is with the Mets in the first 5 innings of this game.
The Mets have a decent bullpen, but if there was a unit to lose this game for New York, it is the bullpen. I recommend the Mets F5 -.5 +108. I think the Mets will get on top of Mikolas and will cover one run through five innings.
Prediction and Best Bet: New York Mets First 5 Innings -0.5 (+108)
