Cubs vs White Sox Analysis
Wednesday night is the second game of a best of two series between the Cubs and the White Sox. The team from the Southside of Chicago, the White Sox, took game one 3-1.
The White Sox scored two in the second and one in the third, and that was enough to beat their crosstown rivals as the Cubs only plated one run in the sixth. For the second game of the series, the White Sox are -144 road favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 7 runs.
Cubs Preview
The Cubbies started off the 2022 season on a hot streak, but since then have lost 10 of their last 13 games. Chicago boasted the best offense in the majors for a solid chunk of time, but it seems like they have begun to regress toward the mean.
Chicago was not expected to be good this season, so it is not shocking to see this team come back to reality.
Kyle Hendricks will take the bump for the Cubs on Wednesday night. This will be his sixth start of the 2022 season. Through five games so far, Hendricks has gone 24.2 innings allowing 15 runs on 26 hits, 11 walks, and 21 strikeouts. The Cubs have won three of the five games Hendricks has started.
White Sox Preview
The White Sox are only three games below .500, and we are very early into the season, but this team was supposed to be better than they are playing. However, the White Sox have won three of their last five and can make up some early lost ground.
Lucas Giolito will take the hill for the White Sox. Giolito dealt with a minor injury earlier this season, but this will be his fourth start of the year.
The White Sox are 0-3 in his previous three starts, but not to Giolitos’ fault. The righty has gone 14 innings allowing just four runs on 12 hits with 22 strikeouts. I expect Giolito to come back into form after being banged up to start the season.
Cubs vs White Sox Prediction
I was on the White Sox as a road favorite yesterday and they cashed, and I am going right back to the well.
The odds (-144) are identical to the odds I got the White Sox at yesterday, and I actually think Giolito, when healthy, is a better pitcher than Kopech.
With that being said, the White Sox may struggle to hit Hendricks, but I will be riding the better team and pitcher. There is value in a favorite of -144 and I do not consider it hefty juice, so I will lay it and take the White Sox.
Prediction: Chicago White Sox Moneyline (-144)
