Marlins vs Cardinals Analysis
On Tuesday night, the Cardinals travel to Miami for the first game of a best of three series with the Marlins.
The Cardinals split their last series with the Brewers and the Marlins won their last series vs the Braves. Adam Wainwright takes the hill for St. Louis while Jesus Luzardo is on the bump for Miami.
The Cardinals and Marlins are both set at -105 on the moneyline, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 8 runs.
Luzardo Dealt With Tough Task
Miami looked impressive in their series against the Phillies and won three out of four games. Jesus Luzardo will make his second start of the season and he will have to try to shut down the powerful bats of the Cardinals.
In his first outing this season, Luzardo allowed only one run, one hit, and one walk over five innings of work. Luzardo recorded 12 strikeouts in that outing.
He will need to shut down a Cardinals lineup that is batting .253 with 43 runs on 67 hits and an impressive .449 slugging percentage.
Wainwright Rights Cardinals Ship
St. Louis split their last series vs their NL Central rival Brewers and have had a hot start to the season. The Cardinals are second in the MLB with a .449 slugging percentage and have been swinging the bat well.
Adam Wainwright takes the hill for St. Louis for his third start of the season. The 40-year-old Wainwright has a 1-1 record and lost his last start again the Brewers. In that start, Wainwright allowed four runs on eight hits in 4.1 innings.
Marlins vs Cardinals Prediction
Both teams are playing great baseball and have good pitchers on the hill for this matchup. However, I am rolling with the Marlins -105 for this game.
Miami is the more balanced team and their offense does not rely on just timely hits to score runs. Wainwright was shaky in his last start and Luzardo looked great. I like the home team to win as a slight underdog.
Prediction: Miami Marlins Moneyline (-105)
