Marlins vs Diamondbacks Analysis
The Arizona Diamondbacks travel to Miami to take on the Marlins in a best of three series. Arizona is coming off a 2-2 split in their last series vs the Cardinals, and the Marlins are coming off a 2-1 series win vs the Mariners.
Zack Gallen will make the start for Arizona and Pablo Lopez will take the hill for Miami. The Marlins are -154 favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 6.5 runs.
Miami Marlins Preview
Miami is playing great baseball and is currently in second place in the NL East. Miami is 12-9 on the season. The Marlins have been solid on offense, but their pitching staff has been the most impressive part of their team so far.
Pablo Lopez has the lowest ERA in baseball, and he will make the start for Miami tonight. Through four starts, Lopez has a .39 ERA and a .73 WHIP. Miami is 4-0 in games started by Lopez this season and in 23.1 innings, Lopez has only allowed 13 hits and four walks.
Arizona Diamondbacks Preview
Arizona came into the season with low expectations but has been playing solid baseball so far. Arizona is 10-13 this year which has them in last place of the stacked NL West.
The Diamondbacks’ pitching staff keeps them in games while their offense, which has a .181 batting average, holds them back.
Zac Gallen makes the start for Arizona and he has been beyond impressive himself. This will only be Gallens’ fourth start, but he has only allowed one run in 15 innings pitched. Arizona won all but one game he has started so far with the loss coming in extra innings vs the Mets.
Marlins vs Diamondbacks Prediction and Best Bet
As a fan, there is nothing I love more than a pitching duel. Gallen and Lopez are both doing a great job minimizing base runners which are leading to allowing runs at very low clips.
Miami has yet to lose when Lopez takes the hill. Unfortunately for Miami, I think today is that day that changes. Gallen has been great this year, and though the DIamondbacks’ offense struggles, Arizona should not be +140 underdogs. Yes, Miami is the better team, but the value is on the underdog Diamondbacks moneyline.
Prediction: Arizona Diamondbacks Moneyline (+144)
