Mets vs Giants Analysis
On Thursday afternoon, the Mets take on the Giants at Citi Field for the final matchup of a four-game series between these two ball clubs.
Anthony DeScalfini is set to take the hill for the Giants while Carlos Carrasco will take the bump for the Mets. New York is a -125 favorite, the run line is -1.5, and the total is set at 7.5 runs.
Mighty Mets Continue to Surprise
The Mets are one of the hottest teams in baseball to start the early season. New York is winning behind great starting pitching, a solid bullpen, and a rejuvenated lineup. The Mets bat .251 as a team with a .350 on-base percentage and a .398 slugging percentage.
Carlos Carrasco will take the bump for the Mets for the third time this season. The Mets have lost his previous two starts but to no fault of Carrasco himself. The righty has allowed just one run and 10 hits through 10.2 innings. Carrasco has struck out 13 batters and I expect him to continue his string of great starts.
Brandon Belt Leading Giants Offense With Long Ball
The Giants were rolling to start the 2022 MLB season, but have struggled to take down the Mighty Mets. San Fransisco has an elite pitching staff, but their offense leaves much to be desired.
At the moment, the Giants are batting .223 with a .299 on-base percentage and a .374 slugging percentage. San Francisco has benefited with the long ball – the Giants have 12 home runs so far this season.
Anthony DeScalfini will make his third start of the season for San Francisco. The Giants are 2-0 in games he has pitched, but DeScalfini received no decisions for both starts. The righty has allowed four runs on 13 hits in 8.1 innings pitched this season.
Mets vs Giants Prediction
The way the Mets are rolling right now – it is very hard to bet against them. The Mets have kept the Giants’ offense at bay and they have done a great job manufacturing runs when they are needed.
For this matchup, my favorite bet is the Mets -.5 for the first five innings of this game. Carrasco has been incredible for New York in his first two starts and I do not see the Giants jumping out on him early. I expect a lower scoring game, and the Mets can produce runs early against DeScalfini.
Prediction: New York Mets -0.5 First Five Innings
