Milwaukee Brewers at San Francisco Giants Analysis
On Thursday night, the Brewers and the Giants face off for the first game of a four-game series in San Francisco.
This is the second time these two teams will meet and the first time the Giants won 4-2 on Milwaukee. The Brewers are slight -105 favorites in this game, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 6.5 runs.
Brewers Banking on Burnes
The Brewers have been in the driver’s seat in the NL Central for most of the season, and they are looking to head into the All-Star break still in first place.
Milwaukee is 49-40 on the season, they are 28-21 on the road, and they are 26-44 covering the run line as a favorite. The Brewers are 4-6 in their last 10 games and they have a .215 team batting average over that stretch.
Corbin Burnes will take the mound for the Brewers tonight in the Bay. Burnes is 7-4 on the season with a 2.20 ERA, a .89 WHIP, and a 2.99 FIP. In his last three starts, Burnes has allowed four runs on nine hits over 20.2 innings of work.
On 4/25, Burnes faced the Giants at home, and he allowed no runs on two hits in 6.2 innings with 11 strikeouts. In 57.1 innings on the road this year, Burnes has a 1.62 ERA, a .179 batting average against, a 2.85 FIP, and a .86 WHIP.
Burnes has a lower K/9 but a lower BB/9 on the road this season. Milwaukee is 6-2 in games Burnes has started on the road in 2022.
Rondon Red Hot at Home
The Giants are struggling after a hot start to the season and they are 12 games behind the Dodgers for first place in the NL West.
The Giants are 45-42 on the year, they are 23-21 at home, and they are 16-6 covering the run line as an underdog this season. The Giants are 5-5 in their last 10 games and they have outscored opponents by 16 runs during that stretch.
Carlos Rodon will make the start for the Giants tonight at home against the Brewers. Rodon is 8-5 on the season with a 2.70 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, and a 2.14 FIP. In his last three starts, Rodon has allowed six runs on 15 hits over 20 innings of work.
In 39 innings at home this season, Rodon has a 2.08 ERA, a .211 batting average against, a 12.92 K/9, a 1.98 FIP, and a 1.13 WHIP. The Giants are 3-4 in Rodon’s seven home starts this season.
Milwaukee Brewers at San Francisco Giants Prediction
This matchup is as even as it gets and it is tough to make a call on which pitcher will have the better night. Both teams are struggling offensively and both pitchers have been on fire as of late.
The total is set very low, and I would recommend looking to live bet the Under if a run comes across the board early on. With a total of 6.5, getting Under 7.5, even if a run is scored early, has more value.
Prediction: Live bet UNDER if there is a run in the first two innings
