Milwaukee Brewers vs Colorado Rockies Analysis
On Monday night, the Rockies and the Brewers face off for the fourth and final game of a four-game series. The Rockies have lost all three games so far and they are looking to steal a win against the Brewers. For this final matchup of the series, the Brewers are -195 home favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 8.5 runs.
Rockies Preview
The Rockies are winless since the All-Star break and they are currently 43-53 on the season, The Rockies are in fourth place in the NL West and they are 22 games behind the Dodgers for first. Colorado is 5-5 in their last 10 games, they are 15-30 on the road, and they are 42-31 covering the run line as an underdog this season.
Kyle Freeland will make the start for the Rockies tonight in Milwaukee. Freeland is 4-7 in 18 starts this season and he has a 4.96 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP, and a 4.51 FIP on the season. In his last three starts, Freeland has allowed 15 runs on 20 hits over 16 innings of work. On the road this season, Freeland has a 4.11 ERA, a .243 batting average against, a 3.87 FIP, and a 1.24 WHIP. In the month of July, Freeland has really struggled, and he has an 8.44 ERA, a 5.32 FIP, and a 1.56 WHIP.
Brewers Preview
The Brewers have a 2.5-game lead over the Cardinals in the NL Central, and they are looking to build upon that lead heading into the second half of the season. Milwaukee is 53-43, they are 24-19 at home, and they are 27-48 covering the run line as a favorite this season. The Brewers are 5-5 in their last 10 games but they have won their last four.
Aaron Ashby will make the start for the Brewers tonight at home against the Rockies. Ashby is 2-7 in 18 appearances this season and he has a 4.57 ERA, a 1.49 WHIP, and a 3.94 FIP. In his last three starts, Ashby allowed five runs on 12 hits over 10.1 innings of work. In 18.1 innings at home this season, Ashby has a 2.95 ERA, a .191 batting average against, a 4.22 FIP, and a 1.04 WHIP. The Brewers are 1-1 in his last two starts at home.
Prediction
The Brewers have beaten up the Rockies this series, but this looks like a good bounce-back spot for Colorado. The Brewers’ pitching staff has not been great over the past two weeks and the Rockies hit lefties as good as any team in the MLB this season. I like the Rockies to keep this game close and to cover the run line at the very least.
PLAY: COL +1.5 -118
