Nationals at Marlins Analysis
On Wednesday night, the Nationals and the Marlins square off for the second game of a three-game series.
The Marlins won game one 12-2. For the season series, the Marlins have a 6-1 advantage on the season series. For this matchup, the Marlins are -230 home favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 7 runs.
Washington Nationals Betting Preview
The Washington Nationals have one of the worst teams in baseball this season. The Nationals are 21-36 and they currently sit in last place in the NL East.
They are 4-6 in their last 10 games and they have been outscored by 34 runs during this stretch. The Nationals are 12-18 when they play on the road and they are 18-29 covering the run line as an underdog this season.
Josiah Gray will make the start for Washington tonight. Gray is 6-4 on the season with a 4.71 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and a 5.79 FIP.In his last two starts, Gray has allowed two runs on just three hits over 11 innings pitched.
Gray pitched against Miami on 4/26 and he allowed four runs on 7 hits with 10 strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched.
Miami Marlins Betting Preview
The Marlins started off the 2022 season on a hot streak, but they have cooled down considerably as the season has progressed.
Miami is 23-30 on the season and they sit in fourth place in the NL East. Miami has a bright young core of players, but it is not translating to wins at the moment.
Miami is 13-14 at home this season and they are just 8-15 covering the run line as a favorite. The Marlins are 5-5 in their last 10 games.
Sandy Alcantara will make the start for the Marlins tonight. Alcantara is one of the best pitchers in the majors and is having a fantastic 2022 season.
The Marlins are 6-4 in games Alcantara starts and he has a 1.81 ERA, a .98 WHIP, and a 3.10 FIP. In his last 3 starts, Alcantara has allowed four runs on 13 hits in 24 innings. He faced Washington twice, once on 4/26 and once on 5/16, and he allowed two runs on nine hits over 14 innings in those matchups.
Nationals at Marlins Prediction
The Marlins are way too heavy of favorites to take the moneyline and they are also not trustworthy to take on the run line.
I think Josiah Gray is a very underrated pitcher so I do not expect the Marlins to tee off on him. However, the Nationals are a tough team to back as well. I think this game goes under the total of 7 runs since and I think we see a pitcher’s duel.
Prediction: Under 7.5 -120
