Nationals vs Mets Analysis
Last night, Washington smacked the Mets 8-3 in the second game of a three-game series. The Nationals and Mets have played six times so far this season and the Mets are 4-2 in those games.
Tonight is the final game of a three-game series and Taijuan Walker will take the mound for the Mets while Joan Adon will make the start for the Nationals. The Mets are -155 road favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 8.5 runs.
Mets Preview
The New York Mets are one of the hottest and most electric teams in all of the Majors. The Mets have a 21-11 record and they sit in first place in the NL East. New York is 12-6 when they play away from Citi Field this season and there are minimal holes on their roster.
Taijuan Walker will make his fourth start of the season for the Mets. Walker’s first start was to get him back into shape and he only threw two innings. His second start was solid, but he was shelled in his third start. Through three starts, Walker has gone 11 innings and he has allowed 11 hits, six runs, and four walks.
Nationals Preview
Washington is a rebuilding franchise this year and their record shows it. Washington is 11-21 on the season and they sit in last place in the NL East. The Nationals’ lineup is solid, but their pitching staff leaves a lot to be desired. Washington is 4-12 when playing at their home stadium this season.
Joan Adon will make the start for the Nationals against the Mets this afternoon. The 23-year-old will be making his seventh start of the season.
Washington is 1-5 in games he starts and his ERA is 6.99, which is abysmal. Adon has only gone one start where he did not let up a run and the last time he pitched against the Mets, on 4/9, he allowed four runs in 4.1 innings.
Nationals vs Mets Prediction and Best Bet
The Mets took the loss last night after allowing five runs in the first inning and three in the second. Washington did not score a single run after the second, and the Mets did not score a single run after the first.
Today is a new day, and I think we should see more from these offenses today. However, where I see the value is on the Mets’ run line for the first five innings of this game. I think Walker will settle down and I think Adon will get rocked again.
Prediction: Mets First 5 Innings -0.5 (-105)
