Philadelphia Phillies vs Houston Astros Game 4 Analysis
Last night, the Phillies slugged their way to a 7-0 victory and they took a 2-1 lead in the World Series. The Phillies went yard five times off Lance McCullers Jr. and the Astros were incapable of getting anything going offensively off the Phillies’ pitching staff.
With two more games in Philly, the Astros need to steal a win tonight or tomorrow in order to stay avoid being down in the series or not even making it back to Houston. For tonight’s game, the moneyline is a -110 each way and the total is 7.5 runs.
Houston…. Now We Have a Problem
The Astros were on the wrong side of history last night, and now they trail 2-1 in the World Series. Houston was unable to get anything going offensively and they could not score a single run on five hits.
Fortunately for Houston, since they were down big they did not need to waste their best bullpen arms, but that is the only positive for this team. In order to come back and make a run in this series, this team needs to manufacture more runs.
Cristian Javier will make the start for the Astros tonight in Philly. Javier has made two appearances so far this postseason and he allowed one run on two hits with 7 strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work.
During the regular season, Javier pitched well when on the road. He had a 2.84 ERA, a .186 batting average against, a .307 slugging percentage against, a 1.01 WHUP, a 12.08 K/9, and a .278 FIP.
Phillies Have Eyes On Prize
The Phillies came out swinging last night and now they have a 2-1 advantage in the World Series. This team hit five home runs last night and they asserted their dominance in front of their home crowd.
If Philly can win the next two games at home, they will end the season as champions, which is crazy considering they came in third place in their division and they were the last team to make the postseason in the National League.
Aaron Nola will make his second start of the World Series tonight at home and this will be his fifth start of the 2022 postseason. Nola was great against St. Louis and Atlanta but he struggled against the Padres and in game one against the Astros.
In his last two starts, both on the road, Nola allowed 11 runs on 13 hits in 9 innings of work with 11 strikeouts. At home during the regular season, Nola was slightly worse than on the road. He had a 3.53 ERA, a .211 batting average against, a .371 slugging percentage against, a 3.11 FIP, and a .96 WHIP.
Philadelphia Phillies vs Houston Astros Prediction
These two teams are evenly priced for this game and it is easy to see why. Both teams have had great postseasons, but the Phillies’ offensive explosion last night was exciting to watch.I can’t bet against this team now, especially at home, so I am going with the Phillies to win tonight.
Prediction: Philadelphia Phillies Moneyline -102
