Phillies vs Rockies Analysis
On Thursday afternoon, the Phillies and Rockies will play the fourth and final game of this series. Philly has won all three games so far and is looking for the sweep.
The Phillies are outsourcing the Rockies 25-8 so far this series. Austin Gomber takes the bump for Colorado and Zack Wheeler is on the mound for Philly. The home team, the Phillies, are -200 favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 7.5.
Wheeler Needs to Get The Wheels Going
The Phillies started this season a little slower than anticipated, but this series against the Rockies has been great for their bounce back.
Philly has scored 25 runs in three games and can pull off a sweep. Philly is currently in 3rd place in the NL East with a 9-10 record.
Ace Zack Wheeler takes the mound for the Phillies in the series finally. Through three starts this season, Wheeler has not been the same pitcher that finished around the top of the NL Cy Young voting last year. Wheeler has allowed 12 runs on 17 hits and four walks over 12.2 innings pitched.
Rockies Rocking on Offense
Colorado came into this season with minimal expectations, but they are playing well as a team. Colorado shines at the plate and has one of the better offenses in the MLB. As a team, the Rockies bat .263 with a .425 slugging percentage.
Where Colorado struggles is on the mound, and lefty Austin Gomber will get the start. This is Gomber’s fourth start this season. Over his first three starts, Gomber has allowed 7 runs on 17 hits over 15 innings pitched.
Phillies vs Rockies Prediction
The Phillies have wiped the floor with Colorado this series, and their best pitcher is on the mound, but are we sure they should be -190 favorites?
I find it hard to back the Rockies on the moneyline, but I see the value in Rockies +1.5 -120, and that is my pick for this game. The Rockies bats have been sleeping all series long, so I anticipate them to finally wake up.
On the other hand, the Phillies have been mashing at an unsustainable rate, so I think the Rockies on the run line is a good bet.
Prediction: Colorado Rockies +1.5 (-125)
