St. Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee Brewers Analysis
On Monday night, the Brewers and the Cardinals are set to begin a four-game series in Milwaukee. The Brewers are coming off a series sweep against the Reds in Cincinnati and the Cardinals are coming off a 2-1 series loss against the Red Sox in Boston.
This is the ninth time these teams will square off this season and the season series is tied 4-4. For this matchup, the Brewers are -160 home favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 7.5 runs.
St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview
The Cardinals have been battling all season and they are tied with the Brewers for first place in the NL Central. St. Louis is 6-4 in their last 10 games and they have outscored opponents by 18 runs during this stretch.
St. Louis is 38-30 on the season and they are 17-17 on the road. As an underdog this season, the Cardinals are 19-13 covering the run line.
Miles Mikolas is making the start for the Cardinals tonight. Mikolas is 5-4 on the season with a 2.62 ERA and a .97 WHIP. St. Louis is 8-5 in games Mikolas has started this season.
On May 29 Mikolas made his second start against the Brewers this season and he allowed six runs on nine hits over 5.2 innings of work.
He shut the Brewers down in his first start against them in Milwaukee on April 15. The Brewers have been slumping, so we will see how Mikolas performs against them for the third time.
Milwaukee Brewers Betting Preview
The Brewers controlled the NL Central for a majority of the season until the month of June. They dropped to second place, but now they are tied with the Cardinals for first and whoever wins this series will reclaim first place.
Milwaukee is 38-30 on the season and they are 15-12 at home. As a favorite, the Brewers are 21-35 covering the run line this season.
Corbin Burnes will make the start for the Brewers at home tonight. Burnes is 4-4 on the season with a 2.52 ERA and a .95 WHIP. Burnes has 100 strikeouts thrown already this season which is 2nd in the MLB.
On 5.29 Burnes pitches against the Cardinals in St. Louis and he allowed no runs on two hits with 11 strikeouts in seven innings of work. Burnes has been excellent this season and teams are having a hard time facing him.
St. Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee Brewers Prediction
With the NL Central standings being so tight, it will be interesting to see how intense tonight’s matchup is. Both pitchers have been very good this season despite both teams having some offensive struggles.
I expect the Brewers to win this matchup and cover the run line as they have in five out of seven games Burnes has won this season. I have a 5% MLB Play of the Week on Sportsmemo, so make sure to check that out as well.
Prediction: Brewers -1.5 +145
