Toronto Blue Jays vs Seattle Mariners Predictions, Picks and Odds
The Blue Jays and the Mariners are two of the youngest teams in the MLB and they are two of the most exciting teams in the MLB. Toronto has been cooking since the end of August and they look to be in form.
Seattle had their moments, but they are coming into the postseason with little momentum. Neither of these teams are experienced, but they are explosive, and this should be a fun series.
Sportsmemo MLB handicapper Eric Pauly gives his Toronto Blue Jays vs Seattle Mariners American League Wild Card betting preview.
Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview
Proj. Starters for TOR: Alek Manoah, Kevin Gausman, Ross Stripling
Toronto ended the season on a hot streak and is poised to make a run. Their pitching staff is better than in years past, but they only have one ace that is trustworthy, and this was his first full season in the MLB.
The Jays are a team that mashes, but they need their starters to step up in order to win this three-game series. Alek Manoah will start game one for Toronto and he is coming off an amazing season.
Offensively, the Blue Jays are actually better on the road than they are at home. Unfortunately for the Blue Jays, all three games are at home. Toronto beats up on mediocre pitchers, but they have not done well against true aces. This may come back to haunt Toronto, but they have a good matchup in the Wild Card.
Seattle Mariners Betting Preview
Proj. Starters for SEA: Luis Castillo, Robbie Ray, Logan Gilbert
Seattle has surprised the league with a playoff birth this season. The Mariners invested in arms and their pitching staff investments have paid dividends this season.
Luis Castillo, their trade dealing acquisition, is set to start game one for Seattle. He has been fantastic over the last two months of the season, and he is poised to lock down the Blie Jays in game one.
Offensively, Seattle has been solid this year. Young star Julio Rodriquez put together a fantastic rookie year and he is the catapult for this offense. This lineup is not dynamic, but they are fundamentally sound, they are deep, and they can produce runs.
Toronto Blue Jays vs Seattle Mariners Prediction
The Blue Jays are the better team, and they have home-field advantage, but the Mariners are live underdogs in this spot.
Seattle won the season series and they have the pitching that can neutralize the Blue Jays offense. The pricing is too high to back Toronto and I love the value on the road dog Mariners.
Prediction: Seattle Mariners to win the series (+140)
