Golden State Warriors vs Minnesota Timberwolves Preview
Two potential Western Conference playoff teams square up in the Chase Center as Minnesota looks to make a name for themselves in this conference. They currently sit at #7 in the West but they look to take down a Golden State team that is currently in 2nd, and who is currently riding a three game win streak.
If they can take down Golden State at home, which they haven’t done in the last three seasons, this could be a key win to add to the resume of a team like Minnesota that is constantly improving.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Minnesota is coming off a close win against Portland and the defense definitely showed up in that game, holding the Trailblazers under 40% shooting. In the previous two games, Minnesota had allowed both opponents to shoot over 50%. They are hovering right around the .500 marker, but they are just 11-13 on the road.
The Timberwolves played well of a win this season, posting a 14-9 record, but they are just 10-13 when playing teams on equal rest. Minnesota looks to extend their 4-2 run in the last two weeks, even though they have been outscored by an average of four PPG in their four road games over the last two week.
Golden State Warriors
Golden State will be without Andre Iguodala for this match-up, but they a riding a huge momentum train, coming off the blowout win against Dallas, which extended their win streak to three games. They are 15-3 playing an opponent on equal rest, 30-8 as a favorite this year, and 21-8 playing on just one day of rest.
Golden State has won 22 of their 26 games at home this seasons, including four out of the five home games they have played in the last two weeks. Golden State is also 16-5 against teams over .500 this season, and 22-8 revenging a loss over the last two years.
Their defense has been impressive to say the least in the last seven games, holding six of their last seven opponents to 43.2% shooting or worse, while holding opponents to 7 PPG under their average thus far in the year. Multiple trends favor Golden State to take this game, both against the spread and straight up.
A home favorite that is revenging a loss by 10+ points, coming off a 20+ point blowout win is 29-3 in the last five years. Steve Kerr has had a heck of a tenure with Golden State and the team is 93-23 under coach Kerr following a game where they allowed 95 or less points!
Golden State Warriors vs Minnesota Timberwolves Prediction
Rookie Jonathon Kuminga will once again pick up the slack from an injured Draymond Green and in addition to Green, Andre Iguodala will be sitting this one out due to an injured hip. Of course Curry and Thompson will be the primary ball scorers as they continue to reinvent the rhythm that led them to multiple championships already. Golden State has been great at home especially as of late so take the Warriors -6.

Golden State Warriors vs Minnesota Timberwolves Notes from GoldSheet
The home court has been a significant factor in this series, with the host winning nine in a row straight up and covering eight of those encounters. After the Timberwolves pasted the Warriors 119-99 on Jan. 16, but things will be very different this time around, as the Warriors didn’t have the services of Steph Curry in that game, and Patrick Beverley, who missed Tuesday’s game against the Blazers with an ankle sprain, is iffy for this one.
Also note that Timberwolves took advantage of the expanded roster and ran 10 bench players at the thinned Warriors, taking a 57-38 reserve scoring edge, while Golden State defended Anthony Edwards and D’Angelo Russell to a combined 5 for 17 shooting night (just 16 points). Warriors have held foes to fewer than 100 pts. this season in 21 of their 47 games and lead the league in defensive efficiency rating.
Minnesota has been out of recent seasonal character in that aspect of the game, as the Timberwolves have a top 10 efficiency defense on the year. However, most of that defensive effort comes at home, as they surrender 10 ppg more on the road than at the Target Center, where foes connect on 47% of their FGs. Warriors likely to win, cover and continue the home court edge in this series. Play Golden State and the Over.
