New York Jets Off-Season Analysis
If it wasn’t for the fact that there is so much money to be laid on this line, this win total would be higher on my list.
Although, I like what this New York Jets team has done this offseason, yet this isn’t the first time we have seen the Jets make promising positive headway towards something impressive, only to fall back into their habits.
Although, this time something seems different. This is the best situation this team has been in since the Rex Ryan tenure and Zach Wilson is in a situation that is leaps and bounds better than anything Sam Darnold ever saw in this uniform.
Upgrades on Offense For Jets
The offense adds a young stud receiver in Garrett Wilson, out of The Ohio State University, to go alongside Elijah Moore, Corey Davis and Braxton Berrios.
Plus, when you add in CJ Uzomah (if he can stay healthy), this receiving core has a plethora of weapons. Not to mention the addition of (what many people would call) the best RB in the draft in Breece Hall.
Just adding to their weapons, and the size of their RB depth, pairing with Michael Carter, Tevin Coleman, Ty Johnson, and La’Mical Perine. While it isn’t likely they all make the final roster, they plenty of reliable options to control the backfield behind a rebuilt offensive line.
Jets Bulk Up Defense As Well
On the opposite side of the ball the story is relatively similar. Not often do we talk about a team walking away from a draft with 4 top prospects that are all capable of starting coming into the season, but that is exactly what the Jets have done.
We talked about Wilson and Hall on offense, but they also managed to pick up Sauce Gardner to play alongside DJ Reed and Jordan Whitehead to create an extremely talented secondary.
Plus, they may have had to trade back into the round but they also scooped up Jermaine Johnson, who has the potential to be a top-10 overall pick! The defense additions to this team could really set up HC Robert Saleh to potentially recreate some of the magic that he oversaw in San Francisco.
New York Jets Win Total Prediction
New York isn’t in the easiest of divisions in the league and their SOS says this season is slightly more difficult than last year, but their opponents still average a record that is just barely over .500 based off of their win percentage of last season.
They must increase this season’s win total by 1.5 games, but when you look at their schedule that is feasible. They have 3 home games against Chicago, Detroit and Jacksonville that they should be able to win, and I see them splitting their games on the road against Seattle and Pittsburgh, walking away with at least 1 win.
After those 4 potential wins, I don’t see this team going 0-6 in the division again. There is more talent than there has been in recent years and I don’t see them losing to all 3 teams twice.
Odds are they won’t end the year 6-0 against the division, but if they can split with Miami and New England, and walk away with two wins (which I think is very feasible) in the division, that marks your 6 win season!
Prediction: New York Jets Over 5.5 Wins This Season (-175)
