The Siena Saints made some news this week with the dismissal of their leading scorer Nico Clareth who has been somewhat of a lightning rod of controversy during his tenure at Siena. He was a talented player but was often involved in many off the court incidents that at times distracted and took the focus away from this team. With him being out of the picture, I think there is a great 'buy low' opportunity starting tonight on this Siena squad which has underachieved most of the season and we saw a sign of that in their last game as they took care of business against Canisius registering a home win as underdogs in that game. Siena has a young squad but that group has proven to be feisty at times as they showed in covering the number wire-to-wire in a narrow road loss at Memphis last month. Siena played Iona tough last season as their biggest margin of defeat against the Gaels was 11 points and in the other two meetings, the two teams split with Siena getting an 81-79 road win at Siena as 5 point underdogs and then losing by a single point in OT against Iona in the MAAC Tournament. Siena has been able to match up fairly well with Iona and I think they are fully capable of staying inside this inflated price range here with the Nico Clareth distractions finally being put behind them.
