The Phillies host the Marlins on Friday and there's going to be a lot of unders potentially with the Marlins as their lineup just isn't good enough despite some additions in the offseason. Aaron Nola has a 2.74 ERA over his last three seasons at home and had a 2.08 ERA in three starts against the Fish. I think we're getting a good price on the total here because Nola struggled in September. He's looked good in Summer Camp and should be able to fill the 5 innings.
Sandy Alcantara became the only NL pitcher since 2017 to throw multiple shutouts in a season last year. He went 2-0 with a 1.32 ERA at Citizens Bank Park last year. Alcantara is still a raw pitcher and we'll know early if he's having control issues, but this Phillies lineup is very inconsistent. They have a ton of talent as a unit, but we've seen them struggle with fundamental baseball with runners on base. Bryce Harper and Jean Segura have good numbers against the righty but Rhys Hoskins and Jay Bruce have scuffled terribly against him.
The bigger worry is the heat which is going to make things conducive for runs. I just don't know if they come early. Give me the first five under especially at 5.
