I'm playing on Colorado/Oakland UNDER the total. Yesterday's game produced 11 runs. They may not even get half that many this afternoon. Both these starters were good to me in their opener and both are highly capable. I successfully backed the A's in Montas' first start and I successfully played the under (1-0 final) in Marquez's first start. I said this of Montas: "Montas should be poised for a big season for the A's. He never stopped training during the pandemic and comes in with something to prove. Remember, he was 8-2 with a 2.84 ERA over his first 60 games last year, which would have put him near the top of the league, 9-2 with a 2.70 ERA (97 K's in 90 innings) before getting suspended. He's 27 years old and throwing extremely hard. Manager Bob Melvin described his last tuneup start as 'borderline electric.'..." And I said this of Marquez: "Marquez is looking to establish himself as a top starter and I expect him to start off strong. He was quoted as saying: "It’s a goal that I set the first time when I got to the big leagues – I have to do Opening Day, I have to go to the All-Star Game, win a Cy Young. So that’s one of my goals. It’s pretty amazing how I feel." While Marquez can get overlooked in hitter-friendly Coors, he strikes out a batter an inning (175 K's in 174 innings) and he's got the potential to dominate every time out. Remember, he took a perfect game into the 6th inning of one game last year and tossed a complete game 1-hit shutout in another." Needless to say, I think highly of both. That said, I'm expecting a well-pitched affair.
