     3% Take Army (#242)

In a normal offseason, prepping for the extremely tricky Army offense would be a major problem for a Middle Tennessee State team that doesn’t face many option attacks.  This year, the situation is exacerbated by the significant issues that the Blue Raiders defense is facing, like the loss of three multi-year starters from their defensive line.  DL Coach Tommy West: “We have very few guys who have really played…its just how fast they can learn and how fast they can develop some technique.”

The linebacking corps doesn’t look much better.  A rebuilt Front 7 that missed spring practices is going to have problems defending an Army team that has taken the likes of Oklahoma and Michigan to the wire in early season play over the last two years.  And after a real problem with ‘fumble-itis’ last year – a big part of why Army fell from 10-3 in 2017 and 11-2 in 2018 to 5-8 in 2019 – we can expect ball security to be at a premium for the home favorite.

Blue Raiders returning QB starter Asher O’Hara is a dangerous dual threat – I’m not expecting Army’s defense to dominate. But I do expect the Black Knights to find the end zone…repeatedly; especially with a coach primed to go for it on fourth downs.  Chalk worth laying!  Take Army.
